How about that, Coogs? Two big-name coaches who want to call this place home for many years to come.

But, but, but, Arkansas and aTm and all that SEC money was supposed to steal him away…we are ruining their quality sources…

When “speculation” becomes reality. Enjoy the moment. Someone will start a new thread to rant about the HCIW.

It’s already started, but not too much ranting just yet.

We don’t even know the terms yet. Like is it 7 years from now or does he get the job sooner if we win a Final Four game? If it’s 7 years down the road, I’ll worry about it in 6 years.

I’ll worry about it when CKS, Sr. decides to leave or retire.

It’s a risk, but it’s a no brainer for me if it guarantees six more years of the program being at this level. Kellen will deserve a fair shot and has six years to learn how to run a program, how to continue to be a great recruiter and how to be a good in-game and in-practice coach.

I’d be shocked if there aren’t multiple stipulations protecting UH from ever bringing Kellen in as HC and getting off of him easily if needed once he were to become HC. We have seen that college sports coaching issues change on a much faster time scale than 6-7 years. I don’t think it is anything to consider to be honest.

The biggest irony of anyone that complains, this deal basically not only locks down the head coach for 6 more years, but his top assistant coach as well. How the heck is that a bad thing? lol

UH is making the right moves to sign and keep some of the best people in all of college sports.

This university, the board, the president and staff are serious. The trend has been good and getting better for ol’ University of Houston.

Has this been confirmed by west coast sources?

Exactly. I just sent that explanation to my brother who responded to the news with “Nice! Although those contracts still don’t mean much.” They do if your son’s ability to take over a very successful program hangs in the balance. Even if Kellen ends up being a terrible HC 6 or 7 years from now (which I doubt he will since he’s learning from one of the best), this whole HCIW thing might be the best thing that has ever happened for the basketball program.

I suggest that we each send Matt Musil a plastic spoon along with a written invitation to use it to eat fecal matter.

also can’t wait to see the details of the contract.

I’d say Kellen gets what, 4 years to run his own program (allowing his entire first recruiting class to cycle in). So that’s the next 10 years we have our head coach situated. Nice.
