Alabama Bio - He was serving as the interim Head coach after the head coach was fired.

His time at UCF was also highlighted by his recruiting efforts, where Rooney put together nationally recognized recruiting classes on four separate occasions. His 2010 recruiting class was slotted as the fourth-best nationally by Collegiate Baseball News and the 10th-ranked class by Baseball America.

Rooney developed the talent he brought to Orlando, helping the program have at least one player taken in nine straight drafts, including 24 total players under his watch since his arrival in the summer of 2008. From 2011-15, the Knights had at least one player selected in the top 10 rounds in those five consecutive drafts, a feat that was accomplished by only seven other schools nationally. This past season, two Knights were taken, boosting the program’s all-time total to 93 players drafted, 56 of which went in the first 20 rounds. On the hill specifically, Rooney has produced a total of 50 MLB Draft picks across his time as a head coach and an assistant, highlighted by Major League standouts Justin Verlander and Jeff Samardzija.

He is considered one of the nation’s premier recruiters. Before his time at UCF, he was involved with nine classes that were ranked among the national leaders. Collegiate Baseball News tabbed his 2007 class at LSU as the top group nationally, a class that included nine players who went on to be selected in the MLB Draft. He followed with another top-ranked class in 2008, and the Tigers’ 2009 class was tabbed No. 20 nationally. Prior to his time in Baton Rouge, his 2006 class at Notre Dame was the nation’s seventh-best class.

Pretty good hire, right? What do you think pray?

Hard to believe as good a job Anderson has done for us, but, based on the bio it looks like we may have upgraded.

Only time will tell, but looks like a great hire.

This guy is supposed to be a top notch recruiter and has had success in the past with young pitchers…I would say that if we had to replace Anderson we did a pretty darn good job…

I think this is a great hire. To bring in a guy that’s been a head coach for awhile and a guy that can recruit after losing Anderson is a coup.

I don’t think you can upgrade from Frank Anderson, however this is a very, very good hire.
