What has made you think that? All tests so far has been positive of proven drugs with many desiring it to go forward and applied under the direction of a doctor. The only negatively hyped situation has been a couple taking fish bowl bacteria cleaner which has nothing to do with those drugs being a potential cure and game changer.
This is who they are. This should not be news. They long ago earned their evil reputation. As historically been true, its all about the state and the hell with human rights. The individual does not count especially when the state is at risk. Just ask individuals that grew up there and are willing to be honest about it.
And the province of Hubei from which Wuhan resides has only reported 3K deaths to date and that is their hot spot. Then you hear a story of thousands of the dead Coronavirus bodies being burned from Wuhan from way back in January.
Just from what I have been reading is just the news app on my iPhone. I just deleted it because of how much I was looking at it/making me nervous. But I felt like it was a lot of negativity… which I get because obviously this is a negative situation. But I was having trouble finding a positive article is all. Which is why I wanted to ask the general question if we were doing anything right
OK - fair enough. The VP spoke about the drug tonight regarding the ramp up of the drugs production here in the US and they have coordinated with Bayer with bringing supplies of the drug back to the US from around the world and pointed out Israel who has a stock pile willing to be targetted and shipped to the US. The VP mentioned the need going to NY state to address their high infection rate. If it works anywhere near as it did under the French clinical tests it will be a significant game changer for this crisis.
Thank you for the update!
No problem
Reasonable people can have differing views on this subject. From Dr. David Katz the founding director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center.
It is ok in America to say, I don’t agree with the masses or I don’t agree with leadership. in fact that is the great thing about America. I firmly believe that we are handling this improperly. Everyone calls this a war, ok we went nuclear and had mutual assured destruction right off the bat. Shuttering the economy is not the right decision. Sheltering people at risk is a good idea.
The Doctor is making very good points. If you choose not to agree with him, that is cool that is very american.
Not sure I fully trust the vegan activist with no specific epidemiological or economics training who runs a pyramid scheme company and writes articles under pseudonyms which later have to be retracted and has a list of failed enterprises.
CNN is now reporting that Prince Charles has tested positive.

I agree Ultra.
The American death total is doubling every 2.7 days. That means infections were doubling every 2.7 days 23 days ago.
Assuming a 1.25% mortality rate and factoring in a slow down of the growth rate of infections after social distancing started on March 14, the math suggests a 2% infection rate in America as of today.
Which implies as many as 70K American deaths by mid-April.
Praying for a medical miracle. The sooner the better.
Sounds like this guy is a bit of a quack.
In any event, there are always going to be some opinions outside the norm in any field. Finding them and relying only on them is nothing short of confirmation bias.
From J.P. Morgan (these guys have every reason to get the economy going ASAP. So I believe their models and predictions.)
Prince Charles got it, and he’s 71.Yikes!
No problem Jonnny. If you are really interested more in this matter I would highly recommend listening to this analysis by Nouriel Roubini who IMHO is probably the premier (along with Nicholas Taleb) economic risk analyst and modeller today.
Of course I’ll be happy to try to answer any questions you may have. A word of warning, when he talks of geopolitical risks one of the scenarios he looks at is Trump not accepting results of a close election he loses. It’s one of his what-ifs. It’s the only part of them talk where I felt he may have gone a little overboard in what might happen.
We’re adding over 10,000 cases a day in the US now. Expect we’ll pass China by Friday with most cases in the world.
On a positive note, I’m encouraged by the relatively low number of cases in Texas, and specifically Harris County. Are we doing something right, or just not testing?
Best wishes to everyone.
Would you mind providing a link to that graph? I would like to read their write up. Obviously they are normalizing to have everyone on the same curve.
I would like to read their write up. Here is an article from JP Morgan on March 20th which I just found. The immediate near term economic impact from their analysis is not pretty. I haven’t digested the entire thing yet but they protect themselves in the end saying its too early to effectively understand the overall economic impact to date and the virus has to be contained to return the economy.
Good question. I don’t have access to the whole study. Got it from here
I ask read the report you did, it’s typical for a economic analysis report to hedge their bets.
Gang,
To provide a little more context, let’s look at COVID19 deaths per million people by country.
The USA isn’t doing so terribly in THAT statistic, though every death is a tragedy, so don’t get me wrong, or misquote me.
See here:
Italy: 112.8 deaths per million
Spain: 57.66 deaths per million
Iran: 23.03 deaths per million
France: 16.85 deaths per million
UK: 6.22 deaths per million
USA: 2.42 deaths per million
Let’s hope that we can keep that death rate per million people LOW in the USA, and reduce it elsewhere!
unfortunately its growing closer to the exponential scale than the linear.

More work to be done!
