You’re assuming that every CP member only pays the minimum football ticket donation. Why?

If you get 10 individual donors, that’s 10 opportunities to grow the donations, instead of limiting yourself to 1. They won’t all pan out, but if even one does, then you’ve made progress.

There’s no reason individual CP members can’t travel as a group, as far as I know. The incentive is the same - only one person drives. Regardless, I don’t think carpooling and traffic should be Cougar Pride’s areas of focus. :slightly_smiling_face:

100% true. I donate to athletics. I donate to the Medical School. I donate to the University. You can’t be world class university without donating to other worthy projects.

My tickets are in the section behind the students. I am proud of the diversity of the student section.

So Dr. Diane Chase (the Archaeologist couple) wasn’t already here at UH before?

For some reason I thought she & her husband had been here for years.

She arrived in 2023. Before that, Dr. Short was in that position.

This is another twitter post that came out (from the person responsible for making Cub Camp happen) which allegedly kickstarted the process of getting Pez out of Athletics. Other tweets from this account are pretty strong indicators of present issues on campus that students tend to echo.

Another fun fact: This guy was one of the people responsible for (somehow) convincing students to RAISE THEIR FEES to fund TDECU/Fertitta. It was the largest student vote in history, ~7000 - ~2000. But right now, the University does not have an active student government association, and has been shut down since mid march.

Sounds reasonable.

I don’t know the palm tree history here since I was not following from the older stadiums, but I am all in on palm trees.

Had to bump up the CP donation just to get garage parking.

Lol I remember this guy…believe he was at war with the then Daily Cougar for the caricatures of him as a fat guy back when he was President of the SGA, iirc.

I do recall kids going around asking for signatures circa 2012-2013ish (?) & i distinctly remember saying ‘No’ (i didnt care about football or any school sports back then).

He does bring up some good points, but im left wondering if this is a prime example of what CKS calls the “Village Idiot”, who points out all the problems, but does nothing about it.

For instance, in the 6 yrs I’ve been volunteering with various Alumni orgs or attending their events, I’ve never see him out there (except maybe the game agaisnt UT, and he only went to drink at the Young Alumni booth for a couple of minutes).

Of the 10 game group members, according to your argument, only the group leaded can donate any additional funds. Interesting.

Only one person has a parking pass. If the group breaks up, the parking passes are relegated to BFE.

Everything that affects game attendance should be a part of CP focus.

In addition, With the CP points thinned out, without massive individual donations, there is NO CHANCE of getting tickets to Big 12 BB Tourney and/or NCAA Tourney tickets thru UH.

The only benefit, and I believe it will backfire, is there will now be, from the original group of 10, 9 additional mailings and e-mails. This is obviously being brought about by requiring an account with UH in order to distribute members FB tickets, and I’m assuming the same will be happening with BB tickets. At least this will give ticket office and promotional folks something else to do

This is silly. Of course others can donate, but the general thought in this thread is that the group members are only paying for their tickets, and that only one person is making other donations. This obviously limits the tax benefits to the “leader,” if that’s a consideration.

And I don’t see why people couldn’t still ride with whomever has a parking pass.

CP should be focused on raising money and increasing membership. They should not be spending time on traffic flow or carpooling.

As far as your assertion about basketball tickets, the donor pool at UH is pretty shallow, and it isn’t that hard to climb the Priority Points ladder. Plus, the former group leader will retain his/her point level, so if they qualified before, they should be able to do so in the future.

All I’m saying is that it would be worth a look, as these are people that don’t have to be convinced to start buying tickets. They already bang existing members over the head for more donations - why not spread that love around? :slightly_smiling_face:

At some point the boomers who are the group leaders of their ticket group will eventually stop going to games and someone else has to pick up the role.

Let’s be honest - part of this is just people being cheap.

I know there are some groups that are bought for business and/or charity purposes, and I’m definitely not looking at them. And there are some ticket groups where individuals pool resources for tickets but still maintain individual donor accounts.

Our season ticket demand is such that I have to think that people could get seats together if they were previously in a group if they worked with CP on such an arrangement.

I’ve been in ticket groups and been the point person, and I didn’t like either arrangement, but did so out of necessity. The group leader gets all of the benefits (post-season tickets, special event invites, etc.), but he also has to try to collect money from other group members, who have the luxury of opting out at any time.

And like you say, if the group leader decides to quit buying tickets, the rest of the group either starts over as a new ticket holder or they just quit going, too.

I would love a system were we can individually have CP accounts but also pool our accounts together for postseason ticket access ect. One of the main reason we go to the games is to see our friends that we sit with, but it really sucks when we go to final fours, first we have to pray each of our accounts will qualify and when they did, we don’t even get to sit near each other.

Relating to food.

We walked part of the concourse on Sunday at the kickoff event and it looks like they are shaking it up again, there is now a Ninfa’s southwest of the club and a Layne’s Chicken Tenders under the new endzone facility, and I believe I saw a new funnel cake stand, but that could be old. The northside looked the same, but I did not go by the east end.

Operator error. I’ll reload and try again.

Projected by who? Again I say we’re running middle of the pack at 6th currently Lol. Fritz will get it done here but we have a long way to go to have THE top Big 12 class or even catch up to SMU standards.

I get it, but if you’re donating the minimum to get season tickets, you’re not gonna climb that ladder. :slightly_smiling_face:

I hated my tickets in San Antonio a couple of years ago, but this year’s were great. The allocation process for those games sucks, but it’s not really a CP problem.

Oh, I hope this is true. I love getting funnel cakes on a windy day so that I can share the sugar.

I was bummed when that one was closed last year. That was just another brick in last season’s turd wall.

If there was not one last year there is 100% a new funnel cake stand west of the club. I did not think to take pictures.
