Crow Time?

Was it two years ago some people here were ready to change coaches? Where did they go?

Who cares.

There’s always one thread telling everyone how bad they’ve been.

You’re kidding, right? I don’t remember anyone ever wanting to fire CKS.

I don’t speak for CKS but I bet he has plenty of room on his souped-up, nitrous-infused bandwagon.

As someone said “when you win everyone is a dedicated fan. When you lose everyone is an experienced coach.”

This is a fun thread to read a couple of years later.

No joke. There were people considering a change two years ago. However the board consensus was to give him more time as he was building something.

I loved reading the old stuff, especially Shaggy coming after me because I defended Sampson and thought the program would improve. Shame on me. Well, did we ever get better? I mean, I’m just an old homer who thought we could be good with Sampson guiding us.
Then again I also took up for Penders and then Dickey for a while until it became obvious that it wasn’t meant to be. Heck, I even liked McCallum until I saw us get whipped at home by Prairie View…

The last time someone posted about eating crow on Coogfans it was about CMA critics after the big USF win. After that game King got injured, Ed got a jacket, Army got our firstborn, and the season went down in flames. So let’s pump the brakes on this please until after this magical season ends.

Gotta admit I couldn’t have been further off on my prediction of us not going .500 if the staff stays the same. Unless I get to count Corey Davis as a student assistant coach.

i don think there was ever a movement to get sampson fired…besides maybe 1 poster but never had any traction

2 years ago the debate was that we needed to get different assistants who could recruit, as we were only getting jucos in which half of them wouldnt work out (this was before quannas came who brought in corey and the umass boys)

our win totals were improving so it wasnt about firing, but that we werent improving fast enough

It wasnt the regular season at all. It was the post season. Keep in mind that UH had lost 5 straight post season games including their last 4 where they were a higher seed. The next season post season improvement finally caught up with the regular season success

The program is in a great spot now. Two years ago there was a reason to be worried about the program. I wasn’t calling for him to be fired but certainly thought we’d need to consider a change had we not made significant progress in 2017. We did. I’m happy. Those people that were calling for a change back then were probably the same people that were calling for major’s dismissal in October 2018. You going to call them out on that too?

That thread is pretty good.

LOL that Pearland started it…no coincidence that he hasn’t posted much lately. Dude loves it when the Coogs are struggling.

Losing to a not so good Akron team with home court at TSU was definitely the low point under CKS. That loss was a head scratcher. Even if Chicken had gotten in trouble/suspended which I don’t remember. It was CKS third year at UH I believe.

He was the only troll back in the day (2016-17) when this new & better Coogfans was implemented.

My worry two years ago was not about Kelvin Sampson. My concern was that if Kelvin Sampson couldn’t get it done at UH, who in the hell could? Kelvin had been saying since he got here that every year would be better than the previous season, and he’s done that. Of course these days if you didn’t get it done day before yesterday you’re a failure

The loss to UConn in theAAC tournament was also a head scratcher. We simply had a weak finish that year. We were all hoping for a NCAA bid and the team seemed to play uninspired in March 2017

I thought the loss to Tulane was pretty in the AAC tourney because it knocked us out of any chance at the tourney…
Regardless, I am glad Sampson stayed and got us this far. Would love to see him stay the duration and finish this out…

Tulane was bad that year. Had we won that game, probably would of gone dancing.
