Curt Cignetti

What is it that you do not understand that this thread is about Cignetti?
Programs like uta, atm and others have had major NIL contributors but did nothing with that same NIL.
I will be go one step futher. If Cignetti was not leading this team i seriously doubt cuban gives any substantial money to indiana.

Is that Heisman QB even on campus without Cuban’s money?

Does Cignetti retain his coaching staff without it?

Doubtful!

All right then.

IT PLAYED A ROLE!!!

THIS SEASON!!!

Saying otherwise is BAT SCHITT CRAZY!!!

Ahh, law being wrong again, as always. So what’s new?

Funnily enough, now that Cuban is involved, his money could be better spent on a lot of other things other than NIL that can benefit the program. Cignetti is such a good evaluator that he’s finding/developing 5 star players that were either ignored or wrongfully evaluated by the mainstream ranking services and the NIL they have can be strategically used for specific players.

I can’t exactly remember where I read it, but it sounded like Cignetti had a Sampson-like moment when he got to Indiana and realized their facilities were not up to par for a P4 team. I see a lot of Cuban’s money and other boosters going towards modernized practice facilities and things of that nature.

I’m not wrong here.

Cuban did indeed provide NIL money for this season, and provided money for Cignetti’s staff, whose salaries he increased to near Ohio State levels, helping retain them.

Those are all documented facts that I posted links to above.

They prove me RIGHT.

Sorry if YOU are wrong here, as always I guess, given those facts.

Again
@nilsonm6 people here simply don’t get it.

They won’t look at or accept those FACTS, and simply stand corrected based upon them.
Those facts all support me and vindicate my position.

That’s why this string continues. Because they can’t accept being wrong.

Cignetti is HCWF and CKS. i love these types of HC that develop players. This is what coaching is all about.
HCWF in his many coaching lectures makes a point of developing so called lower “graded” players.

Imagine what our coaches could do with Cuban’s sugar daddying.

Exactly, WhoWeTalkinBout
Indiana lines up with a rock solid team of real good 3 star players and beats the living daylights out of schools like Alabama who probably have 40-50 four and five star players on their roster. They win because of coaching and they win because of culture. Coach Cignetti is responsible for that. If ever any coach deserved “coach of the year”, it is Cignetti. Remarkable job.

I actually agree he deserves Coach of the Year.

But let’s not pretend that Cuban’s money didn’t play a role.

It helped fund NIL to recruit, and helped him pay, and as such, retain, his staff, which, of course, helps out.

Again
it’s BAT SCHITT CRAZY for anyone to suggest otherwise.

More than “developing” players, the ultimate neutralizer in college football is scheming. What made Saban so tough wasn’t his recruiting, there have been several coaches before him who had 5 star talent, it was his scheming and organizational development. He hired the right assistants, implemented good systems, and SCHEMED specifically for his opponents.

Quite frankly I think there are very few elite schemers at the collegiate level. Cignetti is one of those guys and its been evident since he step foot at Indiana. The big difference this year is Indiana isn’t getting pushed around at the line of scrimmage. That was the (biggest) missing piece with last years team (they could be beaten up front).

Very informative post,zrf
thanks.

Just googling, i read that:
“Before Dec. 2024, Cuban had never donated directly to Indiana’s athletic department”.

Cuban didn’t donate until after Cignetti’s first season. So the timeline is:
2023 - IU goes 3-9 under Tom Allen
2024 - IU goes 11-2 under Cignetti
Cuban then donates
2025 - IU goes 14-0

The main driver is Cignetti. Money matters, but the money came there because of him.

Link to the article about Cuban.

How so?

Didn’t YOU say we were talking about THIS season?

Don’t tell me that Cuban didn’t impact this season when he improved Indiana’s NIL and helped Cignetti retain his coaching staff.

According to Nimitz, the money started coming in 2024
.which affected
.which season?

Hint: 2025. THIS season. Their first season as a legit natty contender.

I agree with Nimitz that it’s largely about Cignetti, but not entirely so THIS season.

As long as Cuban provided the NIL to help them afford that Heisman QB, and helped him to retain his killer staff through massive pay raises, it’d be BAT SCHITT CRAZY for you to continue to contend that Cuban’s money didn’t play a role as well.

As I said, certain people like you simply refuse to accept the facts that contradict your preferred narrative, and simply can’t stand being corrected.

I can’t wait see YOU move the goal posts on that.

Just saw were Indiana has 7, 4 stars and 0, 5 stars, compared with Oregon who has 59, 4 and 5 stars. That my friend is coaching, Yeoman style.

Arguing against Cignetti is the craziest position to take. It’s on par with arguing 2+2=5
