Mine were Danny Davis and Delrick Brown and 3 cotton bowls in 4 years.
Mine were David Klingler, Jimmy Klingler and Chuck Clements. (And Donald Douglas, Clay Helton and Chad O’Shea if you really wanna pick nits.)
12 wins in 5 years. Zero bowls. Not quite the same… And yet here we are, still Coog fans through the good and bad. “True we’ll ever be”
EDIT to add: I only went to a half a handful of football games while I was in college. We played in the Dome at the time, which kept the experience pretty well removed from most students. Best thing we ever did was bring football back to campus!
Nice!!
UH blew it’s chance to cultivate a whole generation of fans by playing in the Dome. The Dome was both a blessing and a curse.
Mine started with D.C. Nobles and all since.
Do you think playing at Rice would have been better?
You’re gonna pretend like the Tokyo Bowl didn’t happen?
I think me and him started in fall 1991, and I didn’t see a Tokyo Bowl. No bowl for us until Liberty.
Well, it wasn’t a “real” bowl and it was in December 1990. It may have been called the Coca-Cola Bowl. Regardless, it was a lot of fun.
Coca Cola Classic in 1990.
Nothing wrong with Chuck Clements. Got caught in the transition from Run n Shoot to Whatever That Was. Rocket arm. Won CUSA in 96.
So Miss game in 96 was great
Bo Burris for me . . . . .
Yeah that is true. Hey, he won a CUSA title. Only one other person can claim that: Kolb.
Chuck Clements was the QB when I was in law school at UH.
Clay Helton and Chad O’Shea backing him up.
Only 1996 was memorable.
1994 and 1995 were two of our worst seasons ever!
Andre Ware.
Tell him we need a few more O-Linemen to complete the 2023 recruiting class!
Terry Elston as well I think
Yes, Elston backed up Delrick Brown. He also came in to lead the winning drives against aTm during the season and Nebraska in the Cotton Bowl.
The 2 drives engineered by Elston to beat A&M in College Station and to defeat Nebraska in The Cotton Bowl May be the greatest in Cougar history.
