Defensive recruiting since Levine

But now much would of that ranking been down if Oliver was not in that class?

How much would any teams rating come down if the lost all of their 5-star recruits? Go to 247sports.com and you can do the math. It was a very good class even without Ed.

Orlando is considered a weak recruiter and didn’t do much while here. He did recruit Derek Parish and Marquez Bimage, the latter he took with him to Texas.

247 doesn’t give him any credit for anyone prior to the 2017 class that ended up with the Coogs. Herman mainly let the other defensive guys recruit; Orlando was there to coach defense.

It wasn’t always a sure thing that Herman would take Orlando with him to Austin. His 1st choice was Manny Diaz, but Diaz turned him down. Herman actually lets him go on the road now that he’s with him in Austin, but Herman was building up a recruiting base for when he got to Austin and didn’t want a coach representing him that wasn’t going to be with him.

If you remember, one of the reasons Orlando was made the interim was so that everyone else could go recruit. Head coach couldn’t recruit at the time so making CMA or anyone else the interim would hurt recruiting efforts as Orlando was basically a zero on the recruiting trail at the time.

I went on his facebook page. It is interesting to read what the his beliefs are and what he thinks he is all about. However he gave a verbal commitment…I want players that want to be a part of U of H not pretenders. Successful Teams are built with character.

Since Ed says over and over again that he followed his brother, the only thing you can credit Herman for is not scaring Ed away.
