His 4th down run was #5 on the sportscenter top 10. Canât find it anywhere to post.
Pray posted it above. Itâs all over Twitter too.
such a humbled kid
I might get flack for this, but he is better than Greg Ward Jr. already.
I love Greg award. But King outshines him when it comes to passing, and is a smarter runner than Ward as well.
Every time he steps on the field I know heâs going to put on a show. He makes some dumb mistakes sometimes, but he gets better every game and accounts for so many yards just by himself.
I donât disagree, heâs better than Ward from a physical and talent standpoint. Only thing he lacks now are accolades and big wins. If he delivers those, heâll probably surpass Ward.
Iâm just happy we are able to get these top quality QBs and hopefully it will continue.
I agree wholeheartedly. If he can lead us to a NY6 win and similar alcolades, he may go down as the GOAT UH QB.
No flak from me. Ward was slippery and ran in whatever direction he had to in order to, I believe, not get hit and for the love of the game and his team. He appeared to be fearless but I think he ran on pure adrenaline, sort of redirecting fear. Ward took some shots and did so very, very well. Amazing how he was basically cut in half on one I recall and he kept on playing. Maybe that IS a good definition of âcourageâ. I was always small and kinda did that in pick up games but didnât play organized football, just too slow. Whatever the nature of Ward was, he was and is great!
By contrast, I think King is more if a direct runner⊠his evasion on the TD was incredible athleticism and quickness. No move in that run was for ârazzle dazzle showâ, each move was absolutely necessary and the run was incredibly efficient. King seems to be getting better every game and more precise in his throws, maybe I would say King thinks quicker than Ward did but Ward reacted ⊠I canât say quicker, they both remind me of table tennis, not to be confused with ping pong, heh. No time to think.
Although they are both relatively small, I would not say they are from the same styles.
King CONTINUES to improve if that is possible!
So understated and humble. CMA is not advertising for him, maybe we benefit from King not being recognized as well as Ward was. I know King deserves far, far more recognition for what he does. He wonât be a secret next year. Nor will our receivers.
I just noticed on that play, King did one of those things I donât get and sometimes goes badly. He dropped the ball as he was crossing the goal line. I really donât get the point of doing that. His backfoot hasnât even crossed the goal line and you can see the ball halfway to the ground. I hope Applewhite noticed that and shows King a compilation of early drops. âYou donât want to be those guys do you?â
Donât rush this recognition thing. I was going to say letâs continue to fly under the radar but the cat is out of the bag. I wanted us to duplicate 2015 but if we beat OU next year, the recognition and awards will start coming our players way.
No you wonât from this guy, I said the same thing when Ward was still here and I witness King throwing the ball freshman year on an option playâŠI will say it againâŠKing is better than Ward JrâŠand Ward Jr was great!
Friends you forget one fact that physically changed Greg. He suffered from a shoulder injury that would have sidelined many QBâs. He choose to play with pain. judas knew that Greg was his golden ticket and encouraged him to play hurt. No one will know how good Greg could have been. The one thing that we all know is that he sacrificed his future to play for us. Just for that reason Greg will be forever a U of H icon for me.
DâEriq is opening some eyes at all levels. His accuracy on deep throws is truly outstanding. Only the future will tell us if he is given a chance at the highest level. I sure hope so.
Offensive Player of the Week
Heisman right there
âŠI hear yaâŠbut they want to give it to the Alabama guy, you knowâŠ
The Alabama guy has earned it. If King gets to go his Senior year I will be happy. Whatever happened to using Ed on Offense to boost his Heisman chances?
Wrote this before Saturday. Will be writing an addendum about the whirlwind of a game vs USF tonight.
