Do we change Offensive Scheme Mid-Season?

Remember that game. Baylor was legit that year. With 3 all B12 OL and an all conference RB. While it was still a great performance it should be pointed out that UNC had a horrible run defense ranking 117th out of 125 teams that season. Kind of a perfect storm.

Fortunate yes, but a good coach should know the opponents weaknesses to. Doubt it was just luck.

I’m still a TCU person talking up a BU team - not an easy task. It was still a solid example of a coach changing up his offensive strategy to suit his players abilities on the field, regardless of whether people don’t like him. Other coaches should keep in mind how to take advantage of what they have and not wait until they get their own players in the system - waste of time and bad coaching.

Anybody miss the Kendall Briles score in a 1:30 second offesne, where our defense played nearly the whole game?

It was exciting, but I used to feel so much for the defense having to go right back out. It was alwasy two minute drill or three and out back then. I’ll be honest I think running the playclock down to zero like Navy is secretly the best strategy of all time to defeat a stronger oppenent.

i.e. shorten the game

You are right. It wasn’t.

I have wondered that, too. It’s like the reverse hurry up. It’s kinda unnerving. Because it makes you think they’re changing the play…but they’re just waiting.

As to the question about changing the offense in the middle of the season, we have to have an offense first

I watched the game and a lot of Baylors games that year. Art’s team had a great run game that set up huge pass plays. And he had the athletes to make it elite.
