Does US Constitution evolve

That’s a bit misleading.

Here’s the truth: she dropped out because she got KNOCKED UP.

Not sure how Citizens United constitutes “evolution.”

There is longstanding USSC case law going all the way back to Dartmouth College v. Woodward (1819) that asserts that private corporations and other non-natural persons have constitutional rights (in that case, the Ct. held that Dartmouth College, a private corporation, had an unalienable Constitutional right to contract that a State couldn’t violate), and campaign donations are generally thought of as political free speech.

That’s not an example of evolution.

That’s an example of a court ruling in accordance with long-standing precedent.

I like to bash politicians as much as anyone but bashing just to be bashing adds nothing.

Ain’t no one keeping score.

What kind of a comment is this?
Knocked up you write.
She choose to have a baby rather than have an abortion. Sorry buddy this is her choice not yours. She worked to put foot on the table when others could have chosen another way.

So I knocked up my girlfriend and she dropped out of college. I guess we are lesser Americans than you?

uhlaw97 you know better than that. This is highly offensive.

Oh don’t worry. I’m not knocking the fact that she kept her Baby and wanted to take care of it. I PRAISE that being the pro-lifer that I am!

It’s just her statement about dropping out to put food on her family’s table makes it sound like she dropped out to help her parents, siblings, etc., get by.

That’s not really what happened.

You do not need to double down either.

Oh no. Don’t interpret it that way.

I said NOTHING to that effect.

I simply pointed out that what she said is a little misleading, for the reasons I listed in my previous post.

And we chose to keep our daughter, who is marrying a young second lieutenant in the air force this summer. We worked our tails off. I dropped out of college myself and returned many years later to complete it. We worked crap jobs, sometimes multiple so we wouldn’t have to take a hand out from anyone. But yeah, I guess context is everything. So because of this we don’t get opinions? Since my wife is uneducated at the college level she needs to not say anything about the constitution or government?

As I said, not knocking her choice or your family’s.

Simply questioning the rather misleading way she put it.

Made it sound like she dropped out to support her parents and siblings.

The reality is a bit different. And trust me, there’s nothing wrong with that.

I think it’s admirable, in fact.

And obviously, your family is doing great! As I said, I’m a pro-lifer. I don’t knock anyone for keeping and raising the child that they conceived. I praise it!

I’ll be more clear. Sorry.

Citizens United “evolved” in the wrong direction like plessy and scott. Hopefully soon, it will evolve back.

Spending money isn’t speech. Some people have tons of money while others don’t. It’s inherently undemocratic on its face.

“All men are created equal” doesn’t mean all men are born into equal ways and means but it does mean equal in strength of their “voice”.

It didn’t “evolve.”

It was simply decided in accordance with existing precedent.

Had it been decided the other way, THAT would have been “evolution.”

If the government tried to tell you how much you could contribute to the political cause of your choice, it would almost certainly be considered a political free speech violation/infringement of constitutional rights.

The same applies to corporations. And as I pointed out, there are literally CENTURIES of precedent saying that corporations have constitutional rights, just as you and I do. Had the court held otherwise, THAT would be “evolution” of a strange sort.

The are two types of persons in the law: “natural” (like the two of us) and “artificial” (corporations and other business organizations, trusts, estates, organizations such as Unions), etc.

I don’t know why the Left is so hung up on that.

Citizens United means that Unions can spend as much as they want on any candidate they want.

Why would you Lefties be opposed to that?

We’re getting awfully close to unwarranted personal issues that have nothing to do with the topic. It can only end badly if we don’t avoid personal cracks.

Come on!

This still does not excuse the “Extremist” term.
Simply because the so called journalist labels her Extremist does not justify the disguised insult. How many so called leftist “extremist” can I name?
Kirsten Sinema and Manchin surely do not fit that mold. It goes both ways friends.

A group of individuals is not another individual with the same rights, voice and vote.

Exxon does not get a ballot, neither do unions.

Corporations … Are … NOT … People

I’d still like to know why the Left doesn’t like Citizens United.

It’s the most PRO-UNION decision ever.

Now, labor unions can donate as much as they want to any left-wing pro-union politician they want.

Had Citizens United been decided the other way, then that wouldn’t be the case.

So why is the Left complaining?

And yes, if the government telling JohnnyCougar how much he can and can’t donate to the political campaign of his choice is a free speech violation (and it most certainly is), then the same reasoning should apply to corporations as well, given that they have most of the same constitutional rights, according to long-standing precedent.

I quit.

It’s from Huffpost just treat it the same way as I would treat the NY Post and Newsmax. Because it’s about the same…Political pornography.
