David Thompson was pure awesomeness and generally overlooked as one of the greats!

Chaney must have had a great January to finally getting his jersey number retired.
Well deserved but I have never understood why colleges and pro teams wait so many years to recognize and honor players.
Now, let’s start giving more recognition to those overlooked good UH teams in the early 1970s.

Why retire a number? It’s the player’s name that should be honored.

Nothing wrong with honoring the person’s name and number on a jersey hanging from the rafters, but keep the number unretired for future players to enjoy.

Retiring numbers is a silly tradition.

Lou Dunbar should be next. He averaged 22 points a game.

The Bunce Brothers should be next

JD has a tweet with an interesting comment from Coach Sampson about Don Chaney’s retirement jersey.

I wonder what the background is on the comment:

“I wanted to do it last year which is why the basketball program should make all the decisions for the basketball program. That’s usually the way it has to work.”

One of the greatest Harlem Globetrotters ever and team manager. People like huh! Globetrottets are directly responsible for promoting and increasing the popularity and adoption of basketball around the world with their basketball wizardry, and skill displays, in a fun loving way.

I remember, when I attended games at TSU, there was at least one pair of jerseys with the same # hanging from the rafters - I’m assuming different names . . . . . so jersey w/names but #'s not relevant . . . . .
