Hmmmm
I hope we don’t need the money.
I think it’s too risky
Our 2 money makers (Football & Basketball) are already in upwards trajectory without it.
When you have a HOF coach recruiting at an elite level, and when you have the #1 2026 recruit committing to UH - why take the PE money?
Of course we don’t need the money. Didn’t you guys hear Nunez when he said have plenty for a baseball coach
We need money, but we don’t need it enough to go to a loan shark.
I know our brand is sinking like a Russian submarine in baseball, softball, and golf. If we can’t borrow money to fix those then just put them in hiatus. Maybe people won’t miss us for a while.
*men’s golf
I thought we were poor lol
Only in old money…
We’re NEW $$$!!!
Good. We don’t need to be borrowing money now if we can’t pay more back later. UH doesn’t have that kind of buffer to deal with a big financial mistake. We have always and will continue to do more with less and live within our means.
In football, we should be a solid team the next couple years with Fritz at the helm. The only PROVEN thing to increase interest at UH is winning. We have our man at HC and 2 good QBs on the roster. Should see a slow trickle upwards in attendance now that we are a solid program again and well clear of the Holgy disaster.
In basketball, we should be set for the next few years - even if Kelvin retires after next season Kellen should be able to ride the momentum of a long tenured excellent program for a couple years especially with the tournament size increasing.
I talked to a woman at a tech conference recently that used to be on the finance side of NC State athletics and she said their AD support of Pack Baseball is directly related to it being a profitable sport within the department…
It can be done… even in the NIL era.
For UH baseball to become even a decent program, we need major facility upgrades.
But I guess you could say that about pretty much every UH athletic program save for Football, Basketball and T&F.
Didn’t they make a new baseball facility a couple of years ago?
You’re right, I forgot about that
Facilities at any of our sports is not a problem anymore…
I posted on another thread about UH expecting to announce this summer agreements on jersey patches and naming rights to TDECU field and Fertitta Center court. Each will increase Athletic Department revenue. This was discussed in the “Talk Around Towns” podcast, with guest JD.
A good listen.
Nope, just fan support in the stands and the money coffers lol
So, will it no longer be “Guy V. Lewis Court,” or will a corporate name simply appear in front of that?
Gotta buy ourselves a new baseball and softball coach, some top baseball players, one more men’s BBall player, and new tennis and men’s golf coaches.
Track and field/ baseball/ aac need rebuilds
It’s not the GVL Court it is The Penick Court, named after donors Rusty and Tricia Penick. The development Center is named after GVL.
Maybe the naming rights term expired or there was enough additional money to make financial sense.
