early thoughts-
not adding coaching into the equation, as of today talking purley roster talent

  • texas looks the strongest as of today
  • ucf looks horrendous
  • byu returns a ton from their worst team in a long time - interesting what they will do
  • tons of elite recruits top to bottom
  • everyone but ucf/byu has the foundation for a top 25 team with the right portal additions

Did the Mitchell kid at UT declare for the draft?

I’m not sure but he has a draft grade high enough to be drafted

@pesik Watched BYU this season. Waterman at 6ft 11, wasnt great defensively.

BYU needs a starting center badly. Or else theyll get owned next season

Iowa State, not really loving their roster either. Can they shoot the ball? Can they score at a high level

Any team that starts multiple freshmen. Good luck. Freshmen struggle defensively. Baylor, Texas, Kansas currently. I think those teams will add in the portal.

Solid breakdown

I don’t like our odds with the starting lineup you’ve shown. Limited experience and Ja’Vier hasn’t developed yet, imho. Somebody would really have to step up.

Too bad for UCF that Taylor Hendricks is getting drafted.

since the last update most teams got a lot stronger… texas, texas tech, and oklahoma state got weaker. ucf who was in really bad shape then has made no noticable movements…

  • there will be major movements in the next coming weeks the top 5 available transfers are all tied to big 12 schools.

Two of the top bigs in the league are JWan then Reynolds coming from Temple

Jesse Edwards averaged 15pts and 10rbs 3blks at top level p5 (Syracuse) it’s hard to argue j’wan over that …and id take jwan over Hugley, becuase hugley quit on his team last year, but speaking exclusively on the court, hugley was going 15 and 8 his last full season…

they it becomes really blurry to me… there are bigs with better stats and good size but from lower levels… will that translate? and touted recruit freshmen, easy to doubt freshmen but noah clowney at us up last year as the #80 recruit and 5star Yohan Traore was deep bench… hard to know

not that it matters… kansas, baylor and kstate are on the verge of major moves

Where do you think we stack up on paper with the updated roster?

Boy we need some good news after losing McCaskill in football to the portal

I think we will be competitive in the Big-12 and make the tourney, I don’t know how many conference games we will play but i can see us doing something like 9-7, 10-6, 8-8

Big 12 plays 18 conference games

11-7 is solid. 9-9 would be a little disappointing

talking exclusively roster talent, not with context of coaching ability

i think we stack up fine today … the issue is that most of the big 12 will still be making major moves

wvu and tcu look stacked (especially if baugh and miller come back). as today a ton of teams would be reliant on freshmen which is hit or miss …
our guard core matches up with any current big 12 (though our perimeter d looks a bit suspect, but so does every other big 12)

the issue is we couldnt rebound on anyone with size, that is basically everyone in the big 12…the only teams not with any notable size is texas tech, oklahoma st and iowa st …atleast 2 of those teams will add size in the post
