Ed Oliver All Day, Every Day 2018

Tuesday’s honor comes one day after Oliver earned his second First Team All-America honor from the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). He was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s First Team on Thursday

The Houston native earned an All-America mention from the Sporting News for a third consecutive year after earning first-team honors in 2016 and second-team honors in 2017.

Oliver also earned Second-Team honors earlier Thursday from Sports Illustrated and third-team honors from the Associated Press on Monday. It marked the third consecutive year for Oliver to earn honors from Sports Illustrated , having earned First-Team honors in 2016 and 2017.

Love Big Ed and what he did for HTOWNTAKEOVER, staying home to play for his city.
He is a great Cougar but that outburst dropped him from 1st team AA to 3rd team AA.
Hopefully he still goes first round and makes crazy money.

The outburst didn’t drop him, not playing for almost four games did. Attendance is part of the grade.

Personally I’ve moved on from Big Ed. Very mediocre year imo. I’m sure most will disagree but obviously the whole defense was major disappointment so he’s part of that disappointment.

But Bosa moved up?

Oliver, who earned Second-Team honors this season after First-Team honors in 2017 and Second-Team honors in 2016, joins Clemson’s Christian Wilkins (2016-18) and Georgia’s Herschel Walker (1980-82) as the only players to earn AFCA distinction in three straight years.

The Houston native is only the eighth defensive player in the state of Texas to earn multiple consensus All-America honors, and only the third defensive linemen in the state’s history, following in the footsteps of TCU’s Jerry Hughes (2008-09) and Texas’ Kenneth Sims (1980-81).

Oliver was the only repeat consensus All-American on the 2018 team.

Very sad. How many conference games did he play in? So his 3 game appearance was better than most of the other aac defensive linemen.
This board thinks UH should be in a better conference, yet can’t compete for the championships on a consistent level.
For the upmtine time I am not a troll. This board continues to slay me.

I’m a loyal Coog fan for 50 yrs and I think he had a subpar year but you can’t say much here bec they might come looking for ya.. He’s off the team…hired an agent , no need for Oliver updates every day to see if he showed up for his individual workout. Jmo.

Or, don’t click on this thread? What’s with the persecution complex?

Is it a complex if the firing line is shooting at you? There is a vocal contingency that tries to shout down anyone that questions the greatness of certain players or how their situations are handled. Glad some of us speak up. Well done Rich and Tom.

lol You might have missed the title of the thread when you clicked it. We have a similar thread for Case. Both Ed and Case are big deals. Let us be proud!

There’s no lol on my end. Just speaking my opinion. He’s no different than Keith Corbin, Patrick Carr to me this year. I think sometimes just bec you came in on a pedestal doesn’t mean you automatically earned right to stay there. Bear speaks the truth sometimes it’s difficult to say how you really feel about student/athletes abilities/play on here. Absolutely nothing should be said in derogatory, personal manner etc.
I just wish same rules be put in place for coaches. Most work very long hrs and are committed to there job. Doesn’t mean the W’s will always be produced but imo doesn’t mean poster should get personal about said coach. See it all time here.

You may want to look up the word persecution. Imo Mr Oliver could have had a better year on the field and made better decisions when he was off the field. I get good inside info at times but my first thought isn’t to run to Coogfans n share it. I’ll say this CMA did ALOT to cover up mess EO made w playing/not playing ea week. I’ll leave it there!
