As I said, no one pays to watch those.
No, but they bring insane amounts of prestige, which is what the B1G drools over.
No one gets added to the P2 for olympic sports. Schools get added to the P2 chiefly for their football brands.
And Stanford’s football and men’s basketball brands are among the smallest around.
Not happening.
If the B1G wouldn’t even give Washington and Oregon full shares, with MUCH BIGGER football brands than Stanford, then you can be sure that Stanford is getting nothing. Not even in the running.
Arguing that Texas public universities should not have access to the PUF are against public education.
Is anybody on Coogfans against public education?
You support only two schools from benefiting from the PUF?
You are indeed against public education.
you think I support the fact that ONLY UT and TAMU have access tot he PUF?
That is not correct…the University of Houston and Texas Tech systems should also have access to those funds so we can get 4 AAU public Universities in the state.
UT and TAM have had this monopoly for way too long
No this was directed at you but at…OTHERS, a very few on Coogfans. We all know who they are.
Should UH have access to PUF?
ABSOLUTELY!!!
Will UH ever get it? Realistically, the odds are against it given that a) UH didn’t exist and in any event, wasn’t a state U. when the PUF was created, AND b) the Whorns and Gaggies have enough influence in the legislature to keep us out.
What’s the source for these rankings? I didn’t think it was possible to increase a schools endowment by adding a one time contribution. How does that work?
Stanford was operating at a very high level not even a decade ago. One of the issues they’ve had is a changing of the guard in university administration. Current admins aren’t as committed to investing in athletics.
a couple of other points
-
even though the uH system is barely a system the endowment is still including funds for all of the other campuses and those funds are the property of those individual universities and are of no use or benefit to the main campus and the main campus has no say in the use of those funds
-
SMU has been spending a lot of money on buildings, fountains, and other facilities as that money comes in vs. bonding things out…so a lot of the money they have raised recently has been spent on the projects it was intended for instead of putting that money into the endowment and borrowing (bonding out) the various facilities they were building be it an academic or an athletic facility
one can question that based on the idea that they should be able to obtain bonds for a lesser amount of interest vs. what they should be able to get as a return on investments
but SMU is currently AA- on their long term bonds which is the lowest of “high grade” so they were probably not looking to step down from that and instead paid out of pocket for a lot of things
Other schools’ endowments…
Lot of penis envy going on in this thread.
Why is this poster still on coogfans?
We all know what the puf means and who benefits from it.
He is obviously a troll.
I’ve never seen anyone on Coogfans saying we shouldn’t have access to the PUF. So we don’t all know who they are, you certainly can name names.
What I see above is someone saying that to change the system and put us in PUF the way it is structured now could have a negative effect. That’s more theory though than fact.
Because people are allowed to disagree with your views, Chris. I think he makes good points in that post, I don’t know if it is actually correct but it does give more context to the question.
What I still don’t understand is what the connection between endowments and NIL is that the OP was trying to make.
Who wouldn’t want to be well endowed?
Good points? What good points?
He is the same poster that has used different names to tell us puf should no9t be open to other Texan public universities. It is not about my views Dustin but about a poster with a clear agenda coming on coogfans to stick it to us.
I think we just been insulted🤣 we’re buffoons.
Yes and imagine that. A troll insulting coogfans posters. He has done it for years under his current poster’s name and others.
UTIMCO - Permanent University Fund (PUF)(PUF,The%20Texas%20A&M%20University%20Systems.
it gives the information right there
PUF distributions paid to the AUF are expended by each university system to fund two major programs:
(1) Debt Service on PUF Bonds Issued to Fund Capital Expenditures; and
(2) Academic Excellence Programs
the capital expenditures are buildings constructed under the same “infrastructure” formula funding that all Texas public universities use (Texas is calling that (E&G) Space) now… Assignable Educational & General Space Assignable Educational and General (E&G) Space is the space by room type as reported on an institution’s facilities inventory that is used for academic instruction and support of an institution’s mission
the UT and A&M PUF participating universities and agencies get theirs paid for through the AUF distributions while non-PUF get theirs from general state revenues
the “excellence” portion is paid out after the above expenses are covered and with the other objectives explained in the link to keep the PUF growing to meet inflation for the future
the only three schools that get “excellence” funding are Austin, College station (Galveston since it is a part of College Station), and PVAMU
if anyone believes that the PUF would be busted up, the TUF would not be busted up, general state revenues would be used to cover 100% of the money used to pay for E&G Space for the 20+ PUF participants AND the money from the PUF would be given out to everyone for “excellence” then they are clueless
what would happen is the PUF would just become a state endowment that covers some aspect of state higher education funding and there would be no increase in state funds for sure and most likely in short order there would be a decrease in general state funds allocated…the TUF would also be busted up…and after a bit there would be the "hey we have all this free money just sitting over here lets spend a little of it because we do not need to have endowments when we can just spend money and then cover things down the road…and eventually the endowment would be spent
