FAU deal

I’m not a fan of discounting alcoholic beverages at sporting events. Some people tend to overdrink at sporting events anyway, and this encourages them to drink even more. Nothing worse than sitting next to a foul mouth drunk. Unless of course, you are with your kids and grandkids and have to explain the drunk’s behavior; then it is even worse. I would also worry about the safety of drinkers on the road, and other drivers they may endanger.

An effort to get more fans in the stands sounds pretty irresponsible to me.

Sounds like a Florida problem

Sure, but it’s Rice…

If anything, the nerds will get drunk and start fantasizing about zero point energy or discussing about the ethics behind human/cyborg relationships in an Ai dominated world.

All 3 of them?

Sorry for partying…

But seriously, as someone who does enjoy some beer, I have advocated for some alcohol free family friendly designated seating areas. I know I have seen/read about this at other sporting events, I don’t think it is super common though.

Booze or no booze I enjoy cussing/yelling at the refs and I dont want to do that around kids, so it sucks when some are sitting near me and dial it back. We are on a Party Patio, so thankfully I can yell away with no kids near us.

I think the price of beer is one way of controlling the drunkenness, these kind of specials tend to be limited to 1 or 2 concession stands, like last weekend there were $5 beers at the the one Bud Light tent with the super long line, I ended up getting one of the Jumbo’s because I was not going to wait in that line. I once went to an Astros Game early because it was "Happy Hour with $5 beers, I was only able to make it through the line 2 times before the hour was up.

I’ve found it best to finish drinking before kickoff. The game is more enjoyable for me and the drive home isn’t questionable.
The FAU promotion is bad because it encourages people to wait to the 3rd quarter to drink. That’s a terrible idea. The special should be inverted IMO.

Some of you have never been to $.50 beer night at SHRP and it shows…

If there were an adults-only section, I’d be willing to pay more for worse seats.

That is why I hate the 25oz beers, I like to drink at the tailgate, then 1 12 oz at the beginning of the game and maybe 1 12 oz at the beginning of the second quarter, with the 25oz beers if you don’t drink them fast the second half is warm.

“Adults only” section sound like a swingers club. Count me out…and let me know what section it is so I can make sure to keep my eyes averted.

Enjoying beers at a UH game

Remember it fondly

Now at 68 with a prostate the size of an apple I might as well buy the beer snd pour it directly into the toilet!

Adults only would be great. I’m in the Party Patio and have had kids next to me a couple times this year (different group each time).

I don’t drop F bombs all the time but if I can’t drop one at a football game, where can I, ya know?

Houston needs the opposite: cheap beers early to get people in the stands before game time
