Hey, I understand completely… LMAO!!
You mean the ones that are never wrong and can drag a topic on for days, boring all of us?
I think what people are "*hit"ing on in relation to ESPN is that they brand themselves as sports news, not SEC propaganda and/or marketing news.
No one denies that they make money selling commercials. Quite the opposite, that point is out front and center in most cases.
The point most people make is that ESPN is in fact, not a charity but a for-profit company that promotes their most expensive properties and not “sports” in general.
The fact that they want to present themselves as a purveyor of sports in general and not primarily their owned brands is what gets people annoyed, bristled and angry. In that vein is where many feel ESPN, due to its overwhelming hold on sports viewers eyes, is pushing out many sports teams that ESPN does not own by downplaying them and making them seem lesser in viewers eyes due to the lack of coverage. The less teams there are, the worse it is for the sport and many sports fans.
Sure, but the E in ESPN stands for Entertainment. It’s telling that’s the first word in their name. They don’t pretend to be a news station.
Yeah but the S stands for Sports and they do in fact pretend to be a sports news station
I wasn’t aware ESPN “owned” any college football teams?
I believe the “ownership”, by law, resides with the Universities, across the country.
Making the case that their vested interest is based upon “ownership” weakens the point you’re making, IMO.
While I understand the idea that they have heavy influence, the fact that they are “for profit” tells me one thing only…
They will align themselves with Winners.
Which now includes Indiana…
seems like your picking nits there ol’ boy just to be argumentative for some reason, because you more than likely know what I mean.
I just said I understand the point you are making.
but you didn’t start out that way, did you? you made the choice to be snarky
You call it “snarky”.
Didn’t intend for it to come across like that.
My apologies.
I think you’re on to something here…
I’d just like to see it be more about the facts than assumptions.
It wasn’t long ago experts said the Big 10 was too slow to beat the SEC in the College Football Playoffs!
Big 10 Back to Back to Back National Champions!
Go Coogs! Future is Bright.
NIL & Transfer Portal era almost makes the past irrelevant.
Yeah, I don’t expect for the overhyped SEC propaganda to diminish next football season. For me, Finebaum’s admission makes me laugh because I can’t stand him, but I don’t expect his bias to ever change.
The Guy is am SEC Schill, he is
not worth my time…
Paul Feinbaum works for the SEC Network so yes that is exactly what he will do.
