First Families of UH Football

I added the Spratts.

And I think she once used to post on a prior iteration of Coogfans.

Elmo and Harry Wright. Of course the Bell brothers, Melvin and Carlos. Mel was hoops and Carlos was a running back starter.
Hogan Wharton and I believe a son played here. Could be wrong on that

DeJuena and Kaila Chizer.

Brooks and Briana ran track; the latter didn’t play volleyball that I can recall.

I know they fit the category, but I hate to see the Briles names after the opportunities we gave them and the ways they left.

Why not. Briles probably saved our dying football program

Sometimes, the facts take you in an unpleasant direction. Kim Helton, Art Briles, and Dana Holgorsen all had their share of controversy. Helton and Holgorsen were fired for underachieving and Briles left abruptly and took UH talent with him. Nonetheless each had sons that contributed to the program. They deserved to be listed.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t be listed, just that I feel like UH was used and I’d rather not think about them.

Most coaches, like Briles, who are successful and step up to other jobs, have kids follow them. RG3 came here because of Briles and it was obvious from the get go he was going to Baylor also. Herman certainly didn’t flinch at taking players.
I can’t think of too many coaches outside of Yeoman, Briles and Herman who actually stepped to bigger schools. Pardee went to the pros and everyone else was pretty well flops here, including Hoss.
