Following tweets based on info dump from BTM:OU Contacts

I have no clue what any/most of that means…but it sounds awesome!

HEY PAC…YOU PAYING ATTENTION???

Basically, Big 12 will be meeting next week after the AAC meetings, however, some schools have already been told that they should prepare Aresco for their departure (mainly UC, UCONN, and UH). Says that Bowlsby is basically working on the voting packages for the presidents and that nothing is final, but his contact believes the 4 that will be chosen will be UC, UCONN, UH, and BYU. Says that AAC presidents were flying out for the meetings, but many stopped in Dallas to give their initial pitches to Bowlsby.

From what it sounds like, decision will come in the next two weeks and that just the finer points are being worked on. Once the presidents finalize the vote, things should move fast for whoever is chosen.

The mainstream media guys come out with the story of 17 candidates and it puts a serious dent in Flugs claims from earlier this month, and now all of sudden he is going to have dinner with his “source”. I’m ready to hear his new spin or his backtracking.

He’s the only one who hasn’t been proven wrong.
Mhver is the one that threw a billion things out and was wrong every time.

Espn’s interests are BYU and low payout?

Uh oh. Flug is having dinner with the Big Ten Man (who has OU contacts) tonight:

https://twitter.com/flugempire/status/764217548556472321

ESPN already has rights to BYU games.

My take on “ESPN’s interests” is that it means “no expansion”.

This is turning into a comedy hour which makes the ole '50s Burns and Allen show look boring.

My guess is he is taking him to the local Jack-in-the-Box … after all the B1G contact is only a 3rd hand source at best.

He NEEDS TO TAKE OUT THE OU source for the straight skinny or 2nd hand.

I DOUBT SERIOUSLY Boren is babbling to his staff all the key secrets on a daily announcement series …

The 2nd hand OU fella/gal is probably guessing based on mood/body posture/how many times the prez wants coffee … etc. etc. etc.

So much for leaving them alone and let them believe what they want to believe. Now they want the decades/maybe century old honor code changed to “politically protect” the Big12 presidents in case something in the future explodes on them like the Baylor scandals. This is different since NO ONE knew back in '94-95 that the bears were going to have all these embarrassing problems that eliminated practically the whole admin staff.

Also interesting there is more than one contact at OU … if this is true AND if changing the honor code is true as one wonders whether this 2nd/3rd hand information is legit without some embellishment added.

OU was the one top/dominant school who was supporting BYU … now apparently from these tweets they may not unless some honor codes are changed/adjusted …

Bottom line one doesn’t see BYU or the LDS elders changing anything … so they probably are history as a candidate.

There is a lot of improbable stuff in Flugaur’s tweets. This one sticks out to me as the most improbable. Look, it’s easy to imagine that the B12 and ESPN are not seeing eye to eye right now. In fact, I bet ESPN is mighty ticked off about this naked money grab. But as to what happens in eight years? Are you kidding me? Time heals all wounds. Oh, sure, people involved will certainly remember this incident. But my guess is that the old adage “business is business” will still apply in 2024. Everyone will act in their own best interests at that time, and it may turn out that B12 and ESPN work something out. Eight years is a long, long time.

That said, there are certain actions the B12 could take that would be remembered in a 2024 “business is business” world. If the B12 files a lawsuit to enforce its contract, the ESPN-B12 relationship would be severely damaged.

It is already “severely damaged” when ESPN reneged on its word. The dye has been cast … the cat is outa the bag … the wraps have been uncovered.

Not only in the minds of the Big12 but throughout the P5s and G5s it has planted doubts that any past and current and future contracts with ESPN cannot be trusted to stand firm if push comes to shove.

The Big12 hasn’t done anything wrong but called ESPN out to honor the contract they both mutually agreed to previously. ESPN can cry like a mashed cat but they signed on the dotted line back when and now they are being obliged to honor that signature.

If ESPN wants them to stay at 10 teams to save money, these tweets make sense. They already have their LHN commitment and are confident that the Horns and Sooners will end up in their control after 2024.

I don’t really know what sources this guy is talking too but UCF is not happening. I am of the opinion that it isn’t ESPN that doesn’t want another P5 in Florida, it’s that another P5 can’t be successful in Florida, it’s weird how much hope there is flying around for the schools like ECU and USF and stuff when the focus is so heavily in the more powerful schools.

TX has four P5 schools and FL has three. Seems like both could add one, except FL would have three conferences.

Florida should be able to hold down another P5. There is a gap in central Florida of P5 with Miami in south Florida and FSU/Florida in North Florida. I can see how the Tampa/St Pete/Orlando corridor would seem to be lucrative to Fox.
