Ex Coog Daniel Poncedeleon thows 7 inn of no- hit ball for St Louis in his 1st MLB start. Will have to come out in 1-0 gm due to 116 pc
Too bad he couldn’t get the W. He just got some major props on MLB Network.
Yep. I was able to watch him pitch the 7th on MLB Network as they went to that gm for good while. He had to really work, Reds kept fouling off pitches and made him work hard. Great outing though.

It’s really cool that 2013 team (Whitting’s first decent to good team, even though they missed the postseason) has a rotation of guys all in the MLB or pro baseball. Interestingly enough, it’s the two guys who were low-ceiling “grinders” (Austin Pruitt and Ponce) made the MLB and the stud prospect (Jake Lemoine) is in High A ball still.
Not a knock on Jake though, as I know he missed most of his first year or so in pro ball with arm problems that ended his junior year.
Agreed…the pitching that continues to make it to the majors is a credit to Whiting (and Frank Andersen).
I think Rooney will continue that trend based on his previous success and what I’ve seen from him so far. Excited to see who ends up in the rotation this year.
