Former Coog Arrested

There ISN’T a logic with compulsive gambling.

So far
Wealthy individuals do seem drawn
to the RICO worthy side of gambling.

Separate from jail. Who knows and its years from now.
Near term
The Upcoming tax, forfeiture, etc penalties will set some records.
Line in the sand.
That is right away on any filed returns.

Actually this story suggests it doesn’t matter how much money you have. If you get into debt with the wrong people, you’re screwed.

It’s quite possible this involves more than financial incentives. Remember the Russian mafia and the NHL? It was estimated that 80% of Russian players were being extorted including death threats against family members.
I don’t know if that’s the case here, but it’s feasible that’s another reason.

True, but I was responding specifically to the point about wealthy people have a lot of money and don’t need to gamble.

What is also sad is how many of the pro players blow through millions and are broke a year after retirement.

All baseball players should have “interpreters “ to place bets for them.

It says that Billups was being paid to play in poker games where the mafia had all sorts of ways to cheat… says they were extorting the people who wanted a chance to play poker with pros…

Was Billups aware of the cheating… the state has the burden to prove that beyond a reasonable doubt.

That’s not these 2 guys it seems… prosecutors don’t want bail for Billups because he has extreme wealth…

You think the MLB was going to suspend Ohtani for life… they’re making bank off that dude.

Noboby NEEDS to gamble… it’s a high… just like alcohol and dope… and other weird stuff people do…

It’s a shortcut. Why work for money when “luck” is handing it out? Sure you have to beat the odds, but when you’re the type of person who always has things just work when others have to struggle, why wouldn’t this just work for you too?

You are 100% correct.

I don’t know if he’s been arrested yet, but Damon Jones has been indicted.

He had a gambling problem at UH from a player’s mom who played with him told me. I spoke to her today.

This all sounds like the players for in way over their heads to very bad people. And that’s a house that always gets it back. Then maybe after the debt was paid it turned into getting cuts.

That’s why Ohtani’s translator/best friend was the fall guy
