Fritz says it's hard to win when you're -4 in turnover ratio

Exactly. He isn’t a UH fan, in fact he likely doesn’t like UH at all. He’s a Fritz fan who will be gone as soon as Willie leaves or retires. He cares zero about the school, but constantly talks down to people who have followed UH athletics for decades and will for decades after he’s gone.

Yeah, I don’t know. The way the defense was playing, I have low confidence that they would have made enough stops even if the offense wasn’t turning it over.

Pointing at the turnovers is easy, but it ignores the truth about our defense in this game - they weren’t very effective. We’re usually going to lose when we can’t stop the run and we can’t run the ball effectively.

There is something systematically wrong for UH to play like we did vs WVU and Oregon State.

We did force them to punt 6 times.

And they forced us to punt 4 times.

We allowed them to convert over 50% on 3rd/4th down.

Or more likely we are really a barely 6-6 team but caught ASU at the perfect time and had the easiest possible Big12 schedule and a joke of an OOC schedule

My point was that we did make enough stops to win the game.

If it was systemic then those issues would be more prevalent than just a 2 game sample out of 9.

Maybe, maybe not. It’s all a hypothetical exercise that isn’t as simple as saying “we had enough possessions to win.” Given that we didn’t score on all of our possessions, you can’t assume that we did make enough stops to win.

And none of that changes the fact that our run defense was awful. There’s no football universe where allowing 4.6 yards per carry and over 7 yards per pass attempt is considered good defense, UNLESS they’re forcing turnovers and scoring points.

Defense wasn’t good.

Turnovers were killers.

And to be honest, Weigman’s turnovers were especially bad.

A pick six, a fumble deep in our own territory that led to an easy WVU TD, etc.

Now, let’s do like we did after the Tech game, and win…beat UCF.

Hey listen. Threw top ten teams have lost today.

Schitt happens.

Maybe he should get into the OL’s ears, they allowed too many TFLs. The pick six was a good defensive play and I saw the DB breaking before it left Conner’s hand. The other interception was just a lucky break after bouncing off hands of receiver, DB, and helmet before dropping into the other DB’s hands.

What I saw was their DBs were faster than our WRs and their WRs were faster than our DBs. We were really having problems getting open or behind their DBs.

On one of those fumbles, the ball literally slipped right out of Weigman’s hands.

Put the ball in the opponent’s hands deep in our territory, and led to a TD.

The big Problem to me is we didn’t do a good job of stopping the run we needed to do better in that area going forward

That should have been a PI

I am going to give WVU a little credit Rich Rodriguez has a rep for being creative in the run game and his offense can be tough to prepare for and the defense needed to be sound in their assignments and we were awful in that area on Saturday. That said if we turn it over 2 times instead of 4 there is a good chance we win the game.

This is not the first game he has had trouble with fumbles. What is the cause? Is his hand injured?

According to the box scores, Wiegman had 3 fumbles coming into this game and never more than 1 in a game. I don’t think that’s “trouble with fumbles” category. I don’t know the circumstances around those fumbles. Can we credit with the opposing defense making a good play (big hit/strip sack/etc)? Or, did he just drop the ball like he did Saturday.

Yes, sometimes you have to credit the other team for making a good play.
