I don’t think he’s trying to undermine Fritz
The topic was why Dana got hired over Fritz, and at the time, Fritz hadn’t yet turned Tulane around.

Ok.
My bad.
Just to be clear going 7-6, at Tulane, was a much greater accomplishment than folks would imagine.
The W/L columns don’t tell the story about the remarkable success he achieved there…
Dana was hired because he was a D1 coach and was willing to come here and take it easy withi the AAC.
Fritz was doing wonders at a school like Tulane, with limited resources, in a lesser conference in a state that is 99.9% LSU.
Coming to us at that time would be the same struggle as Tulane.
As much as I wanted him rather than Dana, we see what he can do with a level D1 playing field even with less NIL resources.
We are in a very good place!
It looks like we will be preseason #3 in The Big 12, behind Tx Tech and BYU.
This is Willie’s third season at UH. This is amazing!
He was on mine. I wanted him here before Herman and told many people that I did.
For to many seasons, we were predicted to finish at or near the bottom fourth of the conference, so any current predications that have us finishing at or near the top fourth or better is a good sign of progress.
Even though it’s only a prediction, I believe it also enhances the public perception that the program is on the up swing.
We do not play BYU, but do play Tx Tech…In Lubbock.
If we win that game…watch out!
HCWF was on UH radar before dana was hired. He was on our radar after judas. Local Houston coaches have told me even before judas.
I can’t wait for what’s to come. Our program is now on the right path. That in itself has not happened since the 60’s. Mr. Yeoman must be smiling in heaven.
Any way you slice it, it was a magnificent turnaround season. I think the team slightly outperformed their talent, which is always a sign of good coaching. As Fritz builds a more talented and athletic roster we could see more 10-win seasons ahead.
The only truly disappointing outcome was the West Virginia loss, but there are going to be bad days occasionally. It was a great year; congrats to the players and all the coaches on a fine job.
To be fair, Tulane was a Bottom 10 program when Fritz took over.
Almost nobody wins there outside of Bowden, Fritz and Sumrall.
In Sumrall’s case, he won with Fritz’s players
True dat
