MAC relased a statement they decided not to expand, MTSU and WKU released a statement saying they were proud to be members of C-USA. I guess it depends on which one you believe.
What killed the deal is MTSU and WKU wouldn’t leave unless the MAC took both. The MAC said “No Thanks”.
CUSA and MAC look similarly bad at the bottom although the top three in each conference are better than UH. The MAC is appealing if you’re in that geography. It’s a far tighter geography than CUSA.
The Sun Belt has a higher overall standing but smaller markets than CUSA.
Well, then they had better hope that the podcaster is right and the Big 12 will change its mind.
Otherwise….it’s hard for me to believe that being an independent is a sustainable strategy for any FBS football program other than ND (and even in their case, they could make a lot more in the B1G).
PAC ought to have learned their lesson about consultants, from the ASU business school Professor who told them their league was worth 55M per team. They tried that figure on ESPN. ESPN told them, to go pound rocks.
So is the media idea behind the PAC adding Texas St that people in Texas will want to watch Texas St on TV just because it’s a school in Texas? I’m no media expert but that sounds iffy. The name Texas State still sounds weird to me. I still think of them as Southwest Texas.
Forest not trees situation w Texas State.
-Central time zone.
-Staggered w UTEP, an annual game in Texas 4 every MWC sport school.
-Having that part of TX in the middle of TT/ Baylor/ TCU/ UH B12 breadbasket.
-Its at least G5.
