I think they will improve more in the Pac. The AAC is just CUSA all over again. The PAC would give them better exposure.
Yes, TxSt has leverage. Just to add on to what was already stated, the AAC schools that were possibly mutually interested wonât move until a Texas school was added, also, there isnât a real money number thatâs finalized. Gonzaga was added at a full share, which doesnât make sense because they donât play football.
TxSt knows that the PAC is running out of time, but they know moving conferences will be more money, even at a half share.
The PAC doesnât have a solid media offer, which is why they havenât announced anything publicly, their goal was always to have a contract above the AAC, but it doesnât look like itâs going that way.
They are essentially making all the same mistakes the old PAC made, it will be to their detriment.
Itâs funny how Boise St. and SDSU left the Big East because Tulane was invited, and now they want Tulane in their new conference .
I would rather have Tulane than Texas State. Gonzaga is a good brand with good basketball, so I can see why they would be an exception and get a full share over a Texas State.
AAC schools arenât leaving without a Texas school, the money is uncertain, itâs too late to add MWC or AAC schools. The new PAC canât move forward with their attempt to âpoachâ the schools they want until they secure a Texas school, and even if they do secure a Texas school, Memphis, Tulane, UTSA, etc. are off the table until the NEXT season. The new PAC canât even add UNLV and call it a day, if the new PAC doesnât get it together, they are going to add a school they donât necessarily want.
Football drives the money bus, not basketball. It doesnât make sense to add Gonzaga at a full share.
Oh I think the Pac has solid media offers, but probably not the money, ($10M+ per school) their fans are expecting.
If there was such an offer, it would have been leaked out by now.
I agree. Thatâs what I was attempting to communicate. The money the new PAC was expecting is not being offered.
Above somewhere is a link.
AAC schools cept Army & Navy contractually obligated to spend
at least $10 million on athletes by end of academic year 2028.
AAC Membership can be reviewed.
Feels like some AAC Schools are not making that spending limit.
Current PAC commis. there since 2016 through
all the bad choices and wildly over projected TV $.
To make any real $$$ they will be late, late games.
What else can they offer ?
Texas State can wait to see if an AAC slot opens.
Its perfect for them & a raise from the Sunbelt.
OT
AAC is currently the only games on Thanksgving.
Headliner is Navy @ Memphis.
the like to dislike ratios in those comments are interesting to say the leastâŠ
FWIW
Seen mention of @ $8 million per nuPAC school.
Gonzaga gets a full share.
Not a joke.
CW just added Pac12 Insider.
From the School President of Texas State.
The PAC wonât get any AAC schools if the payout is $8M. They could get Texas State though.
Do they need Texas State though? If the AAC is out of the picture, they donât need to give Texas State a full share, right?
No reason to offer a half share to Texas State except to cause disharmony and dissension by acting like some holier than thou conference. A few hundred thousand for the current schools is a small price for a unified conference.
The MWC did not do too bad once they had a school from Texas. That was pretty much the height of the conference.
They donât need Texas State. So, I can understand why they is no rush to add them.
The PAC needs one more full member that plays football to maintain its ability to be an NCAA conference. Deadline is approaching so, yeah, they kinda need someone in a rush.
As stated by the money limits, they are not likely to pull from the AAC and have pulled the best of the west. Not many options left so they need one of a very few options with Texas State being one of them.
Also having a Texas school has many benefits for exposure and recruiting for the conference. Probably a much better add than Wyoming or UNLV.
They need one more member to be a D1 conference.
D3 will allow you to get by with as few as six, but not D1.
If that member isnât TX State, then who do you figure it should be?
Yes the PAC is in a rush. They have about 3 or 4 more months to make a selection since they have to have 8 football members by July 1, 2026.
Itâs not like Texas State is this big football brand.
Itâs not, but then again, neither is any other program in the PAC Lite. All are either teams from G-conferences, non-football schools (like Gonzaga), or former P5s whose brands were too small to keep them in the power ranks (like OSU and Wazzu).
The bottom line is, the PAC Lite needs an eighth school, and at this point, Texas State seems like the best candidate, given that a) for them, itâd be a step up, AND b) more logical choices like UNLV have apparently already said no.
I see that someone replied but itâs hidden and I canât read it.
