He’s actually been good luck, we usually go on a run right after he posts
Granddaughter graduated and took a job in Dallas.
Then both of her parents got transferred from Phoenix to Ft. Worth!
Via dumb luck the entire family winds up in DFW.
The younger brother attends Community College and will transfer to Texas St. next Fall. Was attending Northern Arizona Univ. in Flagstaff.
Excellent observation about Milos fouling out in all three of our early losses. I’d completely forgotten that. He hasn’t fouled out since. Shows growth on his part.
Agh… that very well could be (by chance) true… namely that AZ very well might have scored over 81 in 1/2 their games. But that it certainly doesn’t “mean” they did so and definitely not because of that average. Think of the potential for “outliers”.
My apologizes in advance, because, I fully admit…it is a nitpick to mention…but my math senses go off when I see blatantly incorrect (preumptious) math conclusions like that.
Just saying, it does not necessarily mean that which is claimed at all! Extreme example: Mathmatically, they could average 81pg, and yet have only scored over 81 in ONLY one single game. Or even none.
Make no mistake, I do still get you and don’t disagree with the point you are making.
To be fair, a lot of the board looks like that during a tight and tense game. Not just him.
Other people have their ups and downs, he is consistent in his negativity
The threads consistently look like that during a tense game.
to be fair to me, every other person on the board has at least something good to say about the coogs in some post somewhere
He has some positive posts too. But seriously. Go back and read the Tech game or the Kansas game or some of the other ones.
To be fairer, if being calm and level headed in a game thread is cool, then consider me Miles Davis.
I’m in a text chain with a few coogs. If our games ended when my brother said they “were over” because of how were were playing bad, we would be .500. If Pearland was in like charge, we would be winless against anyone with a pulse.
He’s an easy target because he adds little to zero substance to his 5 word comments. Hell, half the time his syntax and sentence structure is a mess. The ignore feature works for a reason with certain users.
The ones that really grind my gears are the negative comments about the style of play or the coaching. You have some dudes in here that really do fire from the hip when breaking down our “flaws”.
After a loss (especially before GoCoogs took over the site), we’d get 40 new topics discussing a granular detail to about the issues with the team. If this was last year, these are the separate topics the Tech loss would have produced seconds after the clock hit zero:
Our 3-Point Defense Needs Work
Milos isn’t Aggressive Enough
CKS shouldn’t have played Sharp
Cryer Needs to Be Benched in Late Game Situations
Our Free Throw Shooting is Hurting Us
Our Style is Never Going to Win a Natty
Tech Fans are A-Holes
I Waited in Line 20 Minutes to Get a Beer
Fat People Sit Next To Me
The Crowd was Piss Poor at Tip-off Tonight
It was a balmy 76 degrees in the Arena
Since January 1 the LEAST the Wildcats have scored at home is 78.
Since I have seen them play more than anyone else on this Board I offer my observations.
They are tough at home. Very tough. Similar to our Fertitta Center results.
And they score a lot at home. Thus I predict they will score a lot.
We can beat them. But not 61-55 or some other lower score.
Believe both squads hit at least mid-70’s. And might be in the 80’s.
Our record is a lot better when we don’t let that happen
They’ve given up 70+ in four of those five games, including the ISU game, which went to OT tied at 71. That tells me their stats are probably inflated by a high pace of play. Fearless prediction: we hold them under 70 on Saturday, win or lose.
Haslametrics favors UH in a close matchup with Arizona.
A victory on the road against Arizona would be of the same magnitude as winning at Kansas. Would do wonders for the team’s confidence and reputation in the NCAA Tournament.
This is misleading. For one that’s only five games. Two, in those five game they’ve only played one elite defense (ISU #7) who held them to 71 points in regulation and just to get to that they had to hit a miracle shot at the buzzer.
Edit: just to add, ISU is allowing 68 ppg in conference play. We’re allowing 59 ppg. Food for thought.
Let’s not get things confused here, though — Zona is a dang good basketball team. They may very well beat us. But I think preparing ourselves for an 80 point deluge is premature and unlikely to come to fruition. Bama is the fastest-paced team in the country, and they didn’t hang 80 against us in regulation.
I’d love Houston to start mixing in and showing a few more different wild looks for a play or two defensively. Opponents, commentators, fans, everyone have been seeing what Houston does to opponents and they are actively trying to simulate and game plan against it (usually to little success). I’m not saying change anything we’re doing I just think it would be a good way to screw with the mindset of our opponents for instance when Arizona is practicing against our defensive scheme all week and then the 1st play of the game Saturday we come out in a zone for the 1st play. The last few games it seems some of the teams Tech, OSU, Colorado, and Baylor have shot it better than expected for the most part. Let’s make sure our opponents aren’t getting too comfortable as to what look we’re going giving them
We are going to destroy Arizona.
