Game 30: Kansas @ #3 Houston (W 65-59)

I don’t get arrogance when watching him the last couple decades plus.

:100: in agreement.

Coach Bill Self’s Letter of Apology to the fans after losing to Texas Tech at home adds a little intrigue to the Kansas vs UH game Monday. Self knows the team has underperformed this year, and if he doesn’t, there are thousands of Kansas fans ready to remind him. You pay top dollar for basketball players and in return, you should be ranked in the top ten. Except it doesn’t work that way. Individual sacrifice for the good of the team, working your butt off to get better, and living the culture of the program are just as important.

I would be disappointed if Kansas does not come out on Monday with their hair on fire, playing not only for a good NCAA seed but also for personal and team pride. UH needs to be ready, and I think they will be.

Yep, and they have the ability to beat us. Our guys know whats coming. I would guess they’re excited about it.

while i expect they’ll put out a better foot forward tomorrow than they have in recent road games, i certainly wouldn’t feel disappointed if they decided to add another episode to their atrocious performances away from phog allen lol

I am going to try and get to the game a little early to honor this senior class. A few random thoughts about this year’s seniors.

  • Roberts development from when he first stepped foot on campus until now is unbelievable. He had a nose for rebounds when he started, but that was about it. He improved overall on defense, learned to be a “Monster”, and worked hard over the years to develop his offensive game. Now he has a jump hook and spin move.
  • Cryer has been UH’s most consistent scorer the last two years. His shooting has bailed UH out of more than one game and he is above average on defense.
  • I have seen both Roberts and Cryer grow out of their comfort zones and develop into true team leaders. The coaching staff must be commended for convincing Roberts and Cryer they had it in them to be team leaders.
  • There is an old axiom, “make them miss you when you leave”. Francis’ and Wilson’s growth and contributions have made UH fans realize how valuable the players are and will be difficult to replace from a culture standpoint. Wilson tried to transfer twice, but decided to stay at UH, and he will be rewarded for another season of post-season play.
  • I hope Walker gets another medical redshirt year. I would love to see what he could do injury-free. If not, I think Walker has faced adversity over his career and grown as a person, in part, because of the supportive environment Sampson creates with the program and the type of players he recruits.

You may see him that way but Self is not a typically arrogant person. I’ve seen him being friendly and engaging.

Self is fairly classy in my opinion.
