During the TO, an animated Coach Sampson read Wilson the riot act.
You tell me everyone doesnât get so much as a hangnail, Iâm right there with you. But no Big 12 tournament trophy is worth NCAA tourney health. Itâs obviously not a binary choice, but I lean on the side of disrespecting the Big 12 tournament to the benefit of our health.
You play to win the Big 12 Tournament, but you donât play anyone heavy minutes. Starters get 20-25 minutes. Get Miller and Lath about 10-12 minutes cause they are the first guard and big out of the 8 man rotation if someone goes down or multiple foul issues in the NCAA Tournament.
I would cut Sharp and TA by 50%. Sharp runs right into the melee on every play. Its why he gets so banged up
Jojo Tugler last (3) games:
*vs Cincinnati: 1 foul
*vs Kansas: 1 foul
*at Baylor: 2 fouls

The previous 4 games, he had 4 fouls in each (opponent does matter, yes)
Win one and cash out in the conf tourney
No we have to play to win everything! I just happen to believe that after the first game, itâs Jefferson, Miller, and Lathâs job to do the heavy lifting in this incredibly meaningless scenario
if we canât make it a double, that seems like the next best scenario
Who was the last P5 team to do the triple of a regular season conference champ, conference tournament champ, and national champion?
No, I donât count UConn as a P5 team.
seems like thats another obscure Jayhawks accomplishment we have to match since they did that in 2021-22 lmao
Not counting UConn (not sure why you arenât but whatever), it was Kansas in â22. So really not that special of a feat.
I thought Baylor was the Big 12 regular season champ in 2022 but I found out that it was co-champs with Kansas.
Does anyone seriously see the Big East as a power conference in basketball?
The only legit teams I know in the conference since they dropped football is UConn and Villanova.
@tcoog Marquette is a pretty solid program
Creighton made the Elite 8 in 2023. Under McDermott, theyâve been solid
Xavier should be better. When Chris Mack was there they made the NCAA tourney 8 of 9 years
They have the most titles in the last decade. The only program in the league that doesnât have multiple tournament appearances in the last decade is DePaul. 6 of their 11 programs have a S16 in the last three years. So yes, the overwhelming majority of people consider it a power conference.
Big East is legit, they just donât have 28 teams in their conference
I absolutely do, but they are down this year for sure. Theyâre actually a little better bball product in the time after they dropped football, IMO.
Obviously UConn is a blue blood, but it really depends how Marquette Creighton Providence Xavier Butler St Johnâs Seton Hall are doing in a given year.
All capable of being top 25 programs at any given point in time, but all of them are objectively at least a little or a lot down right now, except maybe St Johnâs.
The other thing to consider is the financial advantage of not having to fund football NIL/overhead w/ private money advantages in big media markets.
The Big East MM model is something an east coast guy like Yormark is very aware of, and something weâre trying to emulate a bit in expansion.
But I certianly see where youâre coming from because the Big East is pretty noticeably down this year. Itâs disappointing.
I agree 100%.
Creighton landed an active LDS transfer out of USU because they were willing to give him more money than BYU.
