Game 38: Tennessee vs Houston; Sunday (W 69-50)

The zags shot 50%/ 45% on 3’s and 100% on 15/15 free throws. You tell that to anyone and they will say, who did they beat? They gave us the hardest time with the way they played. Kudos to them and I think they were even stunned they lost the game. Purdue - we played almost our worst game ever in a tournament. We still won. When you play bad and you still beat a good team, you have some players and culture that allows you to win against the odds.

compared to the absurd highs of 2021-24 the big 12 was down

but can a conference who didn’t have a team sub-100 in most metrics, got 7 (should have been 8) teams in, then had 4 S16 teams, 2 E8 team then a final four team that dispatched 3 basketball mainstays somewhat comfortably en route to a final four be an inherently bad league?

You can skip to the uh part. Matt has been a huge CKS supporter.

Is there a full game replay anywhere?

If you get CBS Sports Network it will be replayed at 12:00 - midnight. Tonight

I think the issue was it was mostly a narrative that got baked in early with the lackluster performance of the B12 in the non-con and nothing could really shake that until the NCAA tourney. As has been mentioned by others on here, getting 2 non-con games back next year will and a better performance by the conf will cultivate a better narrative next season.

What’s crazy is as bad as we played in Vegas we still took Bama to OT. I think he put a big bet on Kansas. He was super high on them preseason and just always seemed to be looking at their season with a glass half full lens. After we beat them in Lawrence he was actually saying he came away from that game more optimistic about Kansas’ season than ours lmao

Also, Uzan hadn’t settled into the offense yet.

Tbh the B12 was better this year than last year. It’s just the SEC was unbelievable. All good though. We showed out in the tourney. Kind of a shame Tech choked. Could’ve had half the final four.

  1. I love this program. Some of you should start to trust more

  2. sat behind Francis’ family. High quality people. What a weekend he had!

  3. the Tennessee fans were great today. Total opposite of Purdue who move into my top 3 douche canoe moron category

  4. I know we take heat as a fan base but 80% of the Vols in attendance today were not there on Friday. Nashville is 3 hours from Indy. Knoxville is 5. Our fans were great today and the Spirit of Houston blew the doors off UT’s band

Those late fouls called against us are ridiculous bs calls. It was bad calls watching in person. 10x worse on tv.

This didn’t age well…

2nd game in a row where the officiating was poor and hurt us. Purdue was awful and I could swear the fix was in duing 1st half but Tenn was not good either and very one-sided in second half it seemed refs were trying to help Tenn get back in it. 16 fouls called on UH. 12 in the second half. we bbarely went to the line at all. 20 free theows for Tennessee and 4 for UH. Who were these referees? We need to seriously investigate them!

I mean why even play the games

I don’t know if that is what is going on but it certainly feels that way. That’s why I don’t like Duke being a 5 point favorite. Although I did see one where UH is a favorite too.
