He should not own a D that ranks DEAD LAST in pass D.
That is worse than EVERYBODY.
Pick a team in the Sun Belt Confernece or CUSA at any record and our pass D is worse. It is the WORST IN THE NATION.
As a D we have given up as many TDs as our vaunted offense has scored.
So give me a pitchfork and light me a torch.
Yeah but who are the offenses they play against? We have some of the most powerful offenses in our conference, plus we played Texas Tech and Arizona with Sumlin. Next year it’s Oklahoma and Wazzu. Being a bottom twenty defense against way less talented offensive opponents in the sun belt is not better than us looking bad against the pass vs some of the best passers.
Our defense is not good, not even average but I’m tired of seeing this. People that rate a defense by yards allowed and nothing else are people that don’t understand enough about football to argue with.
We are ranked 69th in defensive pass defense efficiency.
We are ranked 22nd in passes intercepted.
We are ranked 11th in defensive TDs.
And yes, we are ranked 101th in points allowed.
If we keep Briles and get rid of D’Onofrio, we better bring in 5 defensive backs through the juco route or things won’t be any prettier next season.
It does not matter who is coaching next year, we better find 4 or 5 good cornerbacks for next year or things will not be any prettier.
CMA was brought in & retained for his recruiting. This has been an issue for how long? Where are we today with these issues? Actions have consequences.
There are only 25 scholarships that can be used for recruits in a given year. We had holes all over to fill. As has been said before, the defense was OK last year but the offense was terrible. We hired a new OC and recruited heavily on offense to get it up to speed.
