• UCF has posted a 21-6 record in 2018-19 with an 11-4 mark in American Athletic Conference play.
• Knights rank third in the latest league standings.
• UCF is 4-4 in road games this season.
• In its most recent action, UCF enjoyed a 75-63 road win at USF in Tampa, Fla., on Wednesday.
• Win against USF was the Knights’ second straight win and fifth victory in the last six games.
• Against USF, senior center Tacko Fall scored 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting with five rebounds… Senior guard B.J. Taylor added 15 points with five assists, while junior guard Aubrey Dawkins added 14 points with seven rebounds, two assists and three steals… Senior guard Dayon Griffin came off the bench to post 12 points with two rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocked shots.
• This season, Taylor leads the Knights with 16.5 points per game… Dawkins stands second with 15.2 points per game… Fall ranks third among the Knights with 11.2 points per game but leads the team with 7.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots per contest… Junior guard Terrell Allen paces the team with 4.3 assists per game.
• Head Coach Johnny Dawkins is in his third season at UCF and his 11th season as a collegiate head coach.
• Dawkins has compiled a 64-31 record at UCF and is 220-146 as a collegiate head coach.
• Previously built a 156-114 record at Stanford (2008-16).
• Dawkins is 2-3 against Houston during his career, including a 1-4 mark with UCF.
• Dawkins is 1-4 against Houston Head Coach Kelvin Sampson during their careers with all four previous meetings coming during Dawkins’ UCF and Sampson’s Houston tenures.
• 1986 graduate of Duke.

Players and coaches admitted following the earlier loss to Houston that the Knights started that game tight. They tried to be too perfect, which led to some uncharacteristic misses and mistakes. The Cougars took advantage and carried a 15-point lead into halftime. A late flurry from the Knights proved that they could score against Houston’s top-notch defense, but it was far too little, too late.

Dawkins hopes that lessons learned from that rigid beginning will help his team play looser and quicker from the jump on Saturday.

“That is something we can discuss with our guys, the last time we were in a situation like that and how it took us 15, 20 minutes before we adjusted to the type of game we were playing,” Dawkins said. “I think that experience that we had should serve us well going into this environment.”

UCF is looming in the “Last Four In” category in most brackets, and despite having a solid record of 21-6, they have just one quadrant win on the year (came last week in a road win over rival South Florida). A win over #8 Houston would most certainly make the Knights a lock for the tournament. UCF has been a bubble team for the last couple of seasons, but has failed to make the NCAA Tournament, and they will lose their two most prominent players in BJ Taylor and Tacko Fall to graduation at the end of the year. It is looking like the Knights will be down a little bit next year, so this might be their final crack to make the tournament for the next couple of seasons.

Red lights on phones look good.

That is ridiculous! How do you call that a flagrant?

It was intentional and he didn’t make a play on the ball. Correct call.

Correct call. Robinson didn’t make a play on the ball.

Elvin probably angry on the radio about soft calls.

I think Brady was acting.

Good to see us driving the lane and hitting the floaters. Fall can’t block those. UCF keeping pace though.

We will see if UCF can keep making 3’s. If they can’t they are in big trouble.
