Gameday Thread: Navy at Houston

Which would be consistent with our team this season

As opposed to the first part of the season when the offense couldn’t score in the 2nd half

We make every defense we play look better than the really are

Things I’ve noticed in the first half:

  • The punting is bad. It hasn’t been so far this season. That’s weird.

  • Coogs need to close down on the dive read. They’ve done a good job defending the pitch read, though.

  • King needs to get it together. He’s holding on to the ball too long, and his passes aren’t accurate. He needs to learn to throw the ball away when Navy’s playing contain on defense. In the positive column, he appears to be making good reads.

  • Navy is overpursuing on D. Play action and counters will go a long way here.

  • If we can get it together, this game is there for the taking. This isn’t the same Navy team from the last two years. Tulane keeping it within 3 of them wasn’t a fluke.

I dont know about that, they have been pretty good this year. They destroyed Kiffin’s FAU team, only lost by 3 to Memphis on the road and 10 to UCF. A play or two away from going to OT against #8 Notre Dame even though they were missing two of their best players. Plus they beat Tulane and Tulsa, lol.

Edit: talking about 2016 team who lost to AF, Army, Temple, USF, LA Tech. That 2015 team was better.

Time of possession has to be a big concern. We are playing into Navy’s hands. Navy with nearly double in terms of possession.

Are the fans still getting concessions? It looks like a lot are missing from the first half.

Wow
just wow.

Well, the defense should be rested for now. Get a stop!

King is having a bad game. Two WRs open there and he wanted to run too quick.

Navy has zero respect for our defense and I can’t say I don’t understand why.

Eh. I wouldn’t say it’s a lack of respect. It’s more a philosophical belief that punting and kicking on 4th and short isn’t helpful, especially when you run a Flexbone.

Great job there by the defense.

Coaches are having a good day.

Why review? He launched. Throw him out.

Great play calling on this drive.

It’s important to make sure they’re getting the call right. It was clearly targeting, but that’s a thing you want the refs to be certain about.

Hell of a drive. The extra blocker on the qb sweeps is a much better option than a dive up the middle.
