This weekend in Texas is the sales tax holiday. Most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks sold for less than $100 are tax free Friday through Sunday. So this weekend is ideal time to gear up.

The price of everything is higher than it was just 6 months ago. Most clothing is made overseas and subject to tarrifs.

Some years back, we had a FB game with UCF. Game was early on Saturday. Already had plans for SO to take the following week off, but she could not get off on Friday so that we could attend the game. Drove down to Key West on that trip. On the way back, I got a wild hair and the morning after we spent the night in Mobile, I stopped in Wally World and picked up an Alabama golf shirt and cap, along with same for Auburn. Total cost less than $70. Managed to do the same in Baton Rouge, total less than $40.00. Picked up same for Indiana State on the way to Final Four. Shirt and cap less than $50. Never have seen anything like this for UH. Bookstore and other retailers want $25 or more for caps, and $50 or more for golf shirts, at least that was the case back then. Now, it is more like rediculous and in FC, the only golf type shirts they had over the past few years are for guys with a 15 yo’s body. I’m reasonable thin, but not a flat belly any longer. Things have changed, and not necessarily for the better. Due to wear and tear, I now have to wear button up shirts, and those logo shirts are overpriced, too.
idk why that is, but I’ve noticed it with other TX schools, as well.
For instance, I was SHOCKED that SHSU’s bookstore prices were the same (or higher) than what I’m used to seeing at UH. And i go often to UH’s bookstore, so I’m aware of the markups/mark downs, etc.
Sam Houston’s bookstore didn’t even have a clearance section for clothes when I went (they did for school supplies).
TSU gear is priced the same as UH’s at Walmart.

Walmart on S. Rice - 4 styles, two of the styles appeared to be women’s cut but you’d have to look again. All were $21.98. no hats.
