Best part:
This job would have a line out the door if it opened, given its location, resources and new home in the Power Five. It’s hard to imagine Houston is going to run it back with Holgorsen in 2024

"major coup at the time?
No. General consensus was much more:
DH and WVU were both ready 2 move on. UH a nice fit given his professional and personal background.
Holgorsen came to UH because we have better bars and gentlemen’s clubs than WV.
The attendance is the biggest reason why hes gone. Dont we have the lowest actual attendance in the Big 12 this year?
Thats a bad look. As a new member.
Probably gonna be the same next yr if hes back. Or worse cause no Texas, no TCU on the home schedule
Attendance has been bad for decades so you can’t blame CDH for that reason he has to leave.
Winning is the answer and always has been.
Attendance is a cultural issue. UH grads lack passion for the university. We’re not like UT or A&M, who are the poster children to developing and sustaining a successful culture.
He will not be let go because of attendance…we sold over 25k in season tickets.
He will be fired because he has been a bad coach here with only one decent season in five.
When he is gone I just hope we make the right hire. I have heard forever that there is a line out the door wanting this job because of our location, but I am beginning to doubt this.
We are a tough sell to recruits so we definitely need a dynamic coach who can recruit and convince top players that UH is the place to be.
But I do agree that if something isn’t done soon attendance will become a huge problem, especially with no Texas or OU on our schedule…
More because people leave him alone. Lots of athletes like it here because people leave them alone when they go out. What they fail to realize, word gets around.
Early on I got a call from a guy I work with. He said “I’m at Bissu and you won’t guess who’s at the bar”. I said no idea. He said “Dana Holgorsen”. I told him seeing Dana in a bar is as rare as white rice in a Chinese restaurant,

Dana was looking for an easier job in a non P5 school. One where he didn’t have to play Texas, Oklahoma and Ok State every year. He got a much easier gig and almost the exact same pay as he had at WVU. Same pay. Less work. Better night life.
Of course he bailed.
While I would agree, there are variances and this is the worst given the comparable metrics. Can’t say conference affiliation, can’t say anything. Why again is this happening? Crap team and utter disregard to outreach.
I don’t see us canning him. Call me crazy but i think with the built in excuses. Maybe using Belk as a scapegoat and firing him. He’ll buy himself another year
Hate u. Lol.
Add WVU turned him down before his last season there for an extension. (as I remember it)
He won but the rest of the Dana experience wore them down.
When a new AD takes over, they like to get their own football coach. That’s what happened at WVU although I’m sure Dana didn’t make it hard to want a change.
At least Pez gets fired too in that scenario
Wheres this?
Yes, the girls in our gentlemen clubs have all of their teeth and their family tree splits.
I bet his agent is already looking for another job for him.
SDSU… book it.
