I’ve never been to a regular season UH away game (other than Rice).
I just booked hotel for Lubbock for Fri-Sun, 9/18-9/20.
What’s the best way to get game tickets? SeatGeek?
How should I spend my Saturday?

Brad,
If you’re a season ticket holder (or know a season ticket holder), you can purchase through UH Athletics. The deadline for that is May 29. I believe Texas Tech is $70/ticket ($60 for the ticket + $10 fee per ticket).
The link to do so is in an email titled ‘Secure Your Spot to Cheer on the Coogs Away From Home’ if that helps ya find it.
Glad to have another Coog in the stands!

Beat up a couple of Texas Tech fans and take their tickets.
Wife and I and a few other friends went to Lubbock in 1976 and ‘78. UH Alumni had chartered 2 SWA flights up and back in same day. Our flight back departed at 10 pm after the game.
We had to wait for the plane on the tarmac as the Lubbock airport closed at 9 pm.
We watched as the empty SWA plane landed, taxied up to our waiting area and walked up the stairs to board the plane, took off and landed at Hobby about an hour later.
No problems.
I hope Lubbock has progressed since then ![]()
Year before last, our car almost got ran down by an out of control tumbleweed right in the middle of town. We caught a red light, and just as it turned green, here comes this tumbleweed on the cross street that runs the red light and almost hit us.
Well, this is news to me. Bought my tickets for the Colorado game through CU. Oops. All sales final.
I’ve been to a UH game at Texas Tech. More than one in fact.
The Tech fans are rude and insufferable. Unless the conference championship is on the line, I won’t go again.
Laughing in their faces at sports bars after we kick their teeth in!
I have been to every game at Texas Tech, except one, since 1976. I have had trouble with at least one fan, but usually many more, just about every time I have been up there. Although I hate Texas and Texas A&M, worse than I do Texas Tech, I have had more trouble with Techsters than anybody. They have accomplished as close to nothing as any team in America during that timeframe, yet they are the mouthiest bastards I have ever seen.
Shoot me a private message here or an email (jwmason2@uh.edu) and I can make sure we’ve got the correct email on your account. If we do, I’ll have ya check your inbox and have you add our email to your contacts to make sure we don’t land in the spam filter.
Chowing at River Smith’s before game. They’ve got their share of jackoff fans but then again so do we…liquid courage makes some stupid
I just got back from Lubbock 4 days ago & these places were on my “To Do List”, which I got by running Ai thru a r/Lubbock Reddit sub-forum.
Museum at TxTech University (it’s actually a really good museum for a publicly-funded Uni & I’m jealous that they have something like this on Campus. I like the Blaffer Art Museum, but it was privately donated, iirc).
Buddy Holly Center
Texas Air Museum
Caviel Museum of African American History
Ghost Tour Lubbock Texas
Farmer’s Market
National Ranching Heritage Center
Thrift Stores/Resale Shops/Pop Culture store:
List:
A New Opportunity Thrift - 50th & Memphis - (806) 701-7557
(Old Holland Gardens Location)
Antique Mall of Lubbock - 7907 W. 19th St - (806) 796-2166
Features antiques and collectibles.
Some restaurants/cafe I tried out:
You can also just walk around the Lubbock Mall…kinda feels the way Almeda Mall felt about 2yrs ago, but few ppl go so at least it wont be crowded.
You can do well to buy online at the Texas Tech site. You can get lower level on UH side for $83 which is a good price based on what I paid at other venues.
There is always the prairie dog farm to watch the little varmits dig and play and chase each other (not kidding, it is a thing) and Buddy Holly museum, that is about it. What struck me was how brown and dusty it is when you get off the plane. Only trees are on campus.
Ruidoso is 4 hours from Lubbock.
Do that.
True story. My older daughter had to list the 4-5 colleges she is considering going to in her junior year. One day, she told me she is considering TT. I said, “No, you are a city girl (growing up in New Orleans and living in Austin). Plus, I have been to Lubbock, you have not. It is not for you.” As luck would have it, we decided to take our family summer trip to Albuquerque. Got there early enough to drive the campus, did the same the next morning. On our way out towards Albuquerque, a tumbleweed. Then a dust storm we had to outrace. Finally, the cow smell. Soon after, she said, “Daddy, I don’t want to go to TT.”

that’s great!
That’s a good thing. The 3500 seats Colorado gives to visiting fans are awful. Worst I’ve ever seen
What do you mean?
The only problem with that is visitors will be sitting in top corner of the stadium probably
