The Team should be Proud.
If all you did was open a can of beer than you have nothing to be proud of. Most misused word in the dictionary.
Now, I know what you are all feeling. I am feeling it too. There is no proper word in the English language.
Definition of the word proud:
“Feeling deep pleasure or satisfaction as a result of one’s own achievements, qualities, or possessions or those of someone with whom one is closely associated.”
I think we as fans feel close enough to the team as Cougar family to be proud of them. Just like someone can be proud of a family member or friend for an accomplishment.
Different prides, you’re thinking of the feeling of pride that we would get through accomplishment.
I think we’re all feeling, something akin to civic pride. We are proud of our association with the team. either via fandom, almunus status, or both.
I’m proud that I made it through this week without having a stroke. Proud to be strokeless!
