Oklahoma girls’ basketball team returns championship after realizing they lost | Oklahoma | The Guardian

This is in Oklahoma. Apparently, after the game is over, scores may not be challenged.

The winning team discovered they were credited with two extra points. They would have lost without them. So they gave the trophy to the other school.

I’m not sure what to think about this story. Refs mistakes are part of the game.

What if the game was won on a last second steal with breakaway layup. Video analysis the next day shows the player stepped out on the way to the basket and the ref missed the call?

I don’t think they should have given up the trophy. Of course it would suck to be on the losing end of a scoring mistake, but that’s the way it goes

Also, I wonder when the error occurred. The game would have played out different with a different score showing
