Gruden Gets UH Swag

UH sent Coach John Gruden a box of UH Swag. Talk about a kid opening up presents at Christmas!

You can’t buy publicity like this.

The only cougar paw thing I actually wanted was the one that dana had. Still haven’t seen that one anywhere for sale. The other ones look weird

Okay. So where do I get all this gear? That first one he pulled out was sweet.

I’m must be pretty particular cause 80% of that was awfully ugly except the red polo and cap. Houston helmet still needs another stripe or two on it. We ain’t Madison High.

Gawd I wish I was Clyde Drexler"
How many of us said that as kids?

I spent hours in the driveway trying to get there. If not for Glide, I probably never would have jumped high enough to dunk a semi-flat basketball.

You may be on to something. My family and I have had full Astros season tickets since 1965. I can’t remember what year, but the Astros starting offering season ticket holders all the promotional giveaways at the end of the season. You would pay around $300.00 before the season started, and after the season was over, a big box of all the giveaways would come to my door. 90% of the time, I donated the promotional giveaways to a children’s charity, without even opening the box.

UH could do the same type of thing for season ticket holders. Since UH does not have a lot of giveaways, assemble a couple of caps, bobbleheads, different color t-shirts, red and white pom-poms etc., into a promotional package and offer it to season ticket holders at a reasonable market-up. Instant revenue.

Damn, Gruden knows more about UH football history than I do

Edit: Then again, he lived thru it (SWC days, the Veer with Yeoman, Phi Slamma Jamma, Andre Ware & Klingler days…I have to read about them lol

When I was a junior in HS I dunked for the first time……a volleyball.( so similar to your half flat basketball….later that year I was out on a break, adrenaline flowing, went up for dunk….i felt the ball slipping out of my hand ever so slightly….i wound up “throwing” it off the back of the rim and it bounced off almost all the way to half court……soooo embarrassing….luckily we were up big so I didn’t get to much grief….just laughs.

I saw some of those red polos in the bookstore today. It seems they have new merch.

They have been announcing new Final Four merch, so they might’ve introduced some new styles along with the rollout.

Side note, it wasn’t packed, but there was definitely more ppl than usual at the store for a Friday afternoon, I’ll say that.

I could throw down those sniper-sized warballs (dodgeball for the newer crowd) like a champ, though.

That box has to be 2k worth of merch.

I personally loved that last last black hoodie with helmet and Houston script

I think the helmet and Houston script logo looks sharp. Very clean look

I agree. They are sitting in a goldmine

Sell it to us

Gruden dropped the names of so many UH players in that video, there should have been a broom and dustpan included, Gruden mentioned former UH QB Danny Davis. Danny was one of my favorite UH QBs of all time but it was odd for Gruden, who does not have any UH ties, to even remember him.
