I don’t see ISU and UH both getting #2 seeds in the draw of 68. But who knows, I’m just a fan. I guess ISU could get one over us by virtue of the head-to-head win. I mean, they use that metric for football playoffs.
i can see us being moved down to a 3 bc that way you’d have a finals rematch in the sweet sixteen if it goes chalk but looking at the team sheets we’ll probably both be 2’s since florida is the only other lock for a 2 and the big 10 schools also been cannibalizing each other
Cool, thanks for the reply. The most interesting time of the year in MBB
I almost never support Tech, and certainly not today.
Needed ISU win …now probably will be 3 seed for Big12 Tournament…doubt TT loses agian and they have tie breaker
Tech does not have the tiebreaker over UH.
Sorry you are incorrect …1st tie breaker is head to head …we split …next tie breaker is result against the next “highest” ranked team …that would be Arizona …TT beat them and we lost …Tech does have the tiebreaker for the conference tournament and if they don’t lose again we will be the 3seed in the big 12 tourney
maybe that gives us an excuse to finally wear those red jerseys in an actual game them ![]()
This is a tough one. I, like MrHobbes, have a more consistent (albeit visceral) dislike of Tech going back decades. I also have a visceral dislike of B12 officials. I am going to defer to our esteemed Midwestern friend rezclone and say, “screw Tech.” Yeah, I know the refs are taking money but screw it.
Wow, thanks for the correction! I was going by the Big 12 standings and overall record. I didn’t know it was different for tournament seeding.
Not much difference in a 2 or 3 seed in big 12 tournament…just don’t want 4th
Can anyone tell me why being a 3 seed in the conference tournament is any less desirable than a 2 seed? It’s the conference tournament, a tune-up for the Big Show, just play them as they come.
Crazy, I was writing my question as you posted that. I agree.
The crowd is pretty magical, too…
Wish our crowd showed up like that every game.
I’d like to hear the explanations… these types of games have to be brought up to the conference for review… right?

They do have a great crowd. But we have to consider the factors that go into that. Any big city is gonna struggle with that type of crowd. Small student section, five thousand other things to do in the city, no real natural connection to the school. People in Ames, Iowa are naturally connected to that school since birth because there’s nothing else to do sports wise. They’ve got about 75,000 people who all love that school, whether they go there or not. Houston has people from all over the world, so it’s just different.
I would love if our crowd was consistently as strong as it is vs Tech for every game, it’s just not the reality. But that’s not the reality for most programs. I’d say, all things considered, UH has a damn good fanbase and crowd. But agree with you, it would be awesome if it was even better.
You are other side of bracket from #1 seed …would not meet #1 until final …if you make it that far …theoretically better
Others here will disagree with me, but I don’t see a problem with that (same side of the bracket). UH would have to play Arizona eventually in any scenario. Play them earlier and lose, more time to rest, heal, and practice before the big dance. Play them and win, great.
