The knock on Lewis was never winning a NCAA Championship. Add to that the show cause order for Sampson.
There are a lot of knuckleheads that vote for the college basketball Hall of Fame. Sampson will be inducted eventually

Few is a rare exception, but the main qualification you need is to coach at a blue blood where you get the cream of the recruiting crop every year. So guys like Scheyer and Hurley are being touted as among the best coaches already, and nobody every recruited like Calipari (who still only won one championship). Guys like Lewis and Sampson who have to scrape for their recruits most of the time take a lot longer to be recognized as great coaches. I guess recruiting is the number one mark of being a great coach (and coaching at a blue blood is the main qualification for recruiting). Few is an exception. Hats off to the man.

Few was in his second year as being a finalist. If they are anything like the Football or Baseball Hall of Fame, they reserve first ballot Hall of Fame status as rarified air.

The very fact that it took so many years for Mr. Guy V. Lewis to make the HOF shows you how inept some of these people are.
Any HC, Coach will tell you that it is amazing what Mr. Guy V. Lewis accomplished. To get to five Final Fours is remarkable. Only God decided to not yet bring us a Championship.
CKS will get in. I have no doubts.
