Here is a major difference for me.
All sports franchises take their home city hostage so they can have a new stadium when they feel they need one. You/tax payers don’t want to subsidize these billionaires? They move with the biggest middle finger directed at us the fans. The same fans that paid an enormous amount of tax money to build them a stadium 15/20 years prior. This will never be the case for a university. I can’t see the University of Houston moving to Fargo.

I will always support UH football and basketball, regardless. I have an emotional tie to them, unlike the Texans and Astros. The Texans and Astros didn’t provide me with the chance to earn a degree, while working full time, which very positively enhanced my career and lifestyle and that of my family. Yes, I pull for the Texans and Astros, but it isn’t nearly the same. As for the Rockets, I hope they do well for Tillman’s sake, but I really don’t give a rip about pro basketball.
