Houston Astros 2024 Season

If the Astros manage to make the playoffs, their opponent should just call up three rookie pitchers to start. We wouldn’t stand a chance in the series

That sucked.

Yes, we continue to make rookie pitchers look like Cy Young.

Pathetic.

The guys on the radio said we haven’t beaten the Reds since 2016 and haven’t won in Cincy since 2012. WTF?

I wish we had signed Ty France when the Mariners dropped him. Would have given us some help at first, and he seems to play at a high level when the Astros are involved. We couldn’t get that dude out.

This year has been very frustrating. On one hand they have been the best team in baseball since May. On another they drop games and series they never should.

Seems every time Bagwell is in the booth they suck

An “amazing” signing … ???

Reynolds and Neris might be the ones to sink us if Espada has a say in it

Agree. The Astros should have signed him.

I’m tired of France making mincemeat of Astros pitchers. It’s uncanny the success he has against Houston.

Truth is, most frustrating season as far back as I can remember for so many reasons.

I like Bagwell on the radio broadcasts, not so much on the televised broadcasts.

This series is on Espada.

Not for the moves he made or didn’t make.

Coming off that sweep of the Royals they went into the Cincy series with a lackadaisical attitude.
There was zero fire….just going through the motions….the off day in between sure didn’t help things.

Yeah I agree. For first time since early in the season they didn’t look ready to play.

He has hit .303 with an .825 OPS in over 100 AB’s since the Reds signed him.

What have we gotten out of first again?

My impression of Espada is that he is a manager, but not a leader.

The Astros apparently considered their series in Cincinnati as some sort of guest appearance and thus gave exhibition game level effort. Their mindset seems to be “It’s a long season and we’re already tired, so let’s just run out the clock.”

If the Astros have to get their Mgr to motivate them to play a series in Sept fighting to make the playoffs they have bigger problems then getting swept by the Reds.

The reds are team that they don’t see a lot. They usually have trouble against those teams. That’s baseball.

That’s not baseball……that is a weak excuse.

You could say the exact same thing about the Reds!

They don’t see the Astros a lot, correct?

They had zero problem with beating them……three times in a row.

Getting swept by the Reds isn’t the end of the world. Disappointing, clearly, but that’s all it is.

The Stros recently swept the Royals, a team that they’ve struggled with for the past few years. I see it as a wash.

I’m interested to see the impact of Tucker on the O upon his return. Hopefully, he’ll start out hot because the team needs a boost of energy or spark from their OF star.

Peña, Scott and Abreu have me somewhat concerned.

The Dbacks should be a tough series, but at least we have them at home.

Agree, Espada is more a manager than a leader. I would like to know if he confronts players for making for stupid mistakes, or does he merely excuse the players.

Exactly. It’s really a statistical anomaly, but there’s no way the Astros should be winless against that perennially-bad Reds team over any 9 game stretch or 2-13 in the last 15. It’s a focus and readiness issue.

Maybe today will be Tucker Day? I’m curious to see how he does with zero “rehab” ABs before facing MLB pitching.
