So he didn’t want to be second fiddle to Judge?

In name or popularity only .

edit: plus some of the demands he was supposedly making, made the Yanks say No. I’m sure you read up on some of them. Cohen–Mets owner agreed to all them.

Wow, you pay me $700 Million and I will be ninth fiddle if you want.

Cody Bellinger’s wife is Giancarlo Stanton’s ex.
Good ole Culture building ! :grimacing:

That actually seems like a really good fit.

Yankees take on all but 5 mil of the 52.5 mil that is still owed Bellinger. Definitely a salary dump trade for Cubs.

That is too weird……let’s see how Bellinger reacts to the ick factor.
The first time he is in a slump someone will remind him of it….

Below average arm? Tell that to Giancarlo Stanton who was gunned down at the plate in the World Series on a 93.9 mph throw by Teoscar.

Blind squirrel…nuts, etc. And let’s be honest - Stanton runs about like Martin Maldonado, so he can be “gunned down” with a frisbee.

Teoscar has slightly above average arm strength - better than both Meyers and McCormick. However, he’s not accurate, so his “arm value” is between Meyers and McCormick, both of whom are below average in that category. When you layer in the comparative range that each of those guys have, Teoscar is the clear loser defensively, as his range is even worse than Yordan’s.

I would think this is something that could be improved, as he has the physical tools (speed and arm) to do it, but he’s 32 years old and a 2X All-Star, so what you see is probably what you get.

If the Astros add him, it’s purely to beef up the offense, as he’s considered a defensive liability. I’d like to see him back with the Astros, but his OF defense will have you shaking your fist at the TV at times.

3 years / $65 million + contract seems realistic.

That wouldn’t bother me unless it was my money.

Either way you slice it, Hernandez severely upgrades the Astros outfield as it stands now.

Should they ultimately lose out on Bregman, the 3 years (22-24 AAV) asking price isn’t nuts considering the production. We’ll definitely have to live with the K’s, but it should still be a manageable contract, even at 32 years of age.

Spin it however you wish. The fact that Stanton is not a speed burner does not negate the fact that the throw was almost 94 mph and a perfect one hop strike to the catcher.

Something I read about Tucker on another board.

the front office - all the way to the owner - has the opinion that he cares about himself more than the team. Apparently he had his agent involved with all of his treatment sessions, and the Astros felt like he could have gotten out there earlier this year. But he cared more about protecting himself and his eventual payday. That’s why they had no problem moving him for the right package - they 100% knew that they didn’t want to give him the extension he’s going to ask for, not only due to contract terms.

That was pretty obvious to me without any inside knowledge.

That sounds like something I think  I said but some believed me and most didn’t.

Man, I don’t have any reason at all to “spin it.”

The facts are right there - he’s a below-average outfielder who rarely throws people out, Stanton’s lumbering effort notwithstanding.

As I said, he has a strong arm but isn’t considered a “plus” arm because of his lack of accuracy and consistency. He’s also fast but has very weak range. It is what it is.

You’re in here acting like his agent or something.

I have official lost faith in the GMs vision.
His drafts do look good so far

Man, I kind of hate that we were even trying to trade for that dude (unless RP was in the deal).
