It’s crazy for sure. Lifelong Orioles fan here, going back to 1960ish. Brandon Young has been one of the worst rotation guys I can remember Baltimore shoving out there on a regular basis. Tonight he looked unhittable. Cheap cue shot cost him a perfect game. Witnessing a perfect game would have almost salvaged this terrible Orioles season for me. LOL Oh well.
Once the Birds went up by 8 I figured the Astros fans would want to see history made but I’m naive.
Bad Framber triggered in the 5th.
Whenever he cant make a play in the field then a cheap single or similar.
Gets into a rage. Stews on it then comes out wild.
Spotrac @ $35 million contract projection.
I hope he’s back but losing his cool more & more.
Is it though? Go back and watch at the broadcasts whenever he is used for a 2nd inning. They will inevitably mention how he really never did that before coming to the Astros.
Framber is fine. But he’s getting a little too used to distributing blame in press conferences. I appreciate he took part of the blame but blame distribution should be Espada’s responsibility. These players aren’t skilled in it. Just say it was a bad day and go drink a beer with the guys.
With Framber’s skillset he has some caché to just laugh and say, “we have a day like this sometimes.” I wouldn’t even admit blame. Just laugh and roll on.
He is either still hurt or has zero feel for his pitches….either way he has no business on the roster right now.
A 3-0 game you have a mindset you can still come back……when your reliever comes in and gives up 4 runs in one inning and makes it 7-0 then you have the mindset that it’s an “L”.
Also, if you look at the underlying numbers from before he was hurt……he was extremely lucky….he was due for some big regression.
Baseball skills aside, I have selected Framber as the Astro I would least like to have a beer with. Just have a feeling he would walk the check when I went to take a leak.
Skill wise, it’s going to be a tough decision whether to try and re-sign him or not. Predictions are running between 25-30 mil per year for 6 or 7 years. Best guess is he will try to get at least the same as Aaron Nola, 7 years at 175 million.
He also shouldn’t have trimmed the beard. If you go back and look at photos from last season when he was more effective, he had the longer, squared off beard style. This year, regular beard, he gets rocked regularly.
We finally have a decent chunk of money coming off the books.
Hopefully Arighetti, Javier, Garcia are at full speed for next season……Blanco and Wez will be out but either Blubaugh or Ullola should be able to step into the back of the rotation.
So sign or trade for one starter in the offseason.
This is kinda ridiculous……I’m 52 so I don’t think I’m super old….but did I just live in a time that was so different? Did I play ball in a time that was so different?
There were times when I was extremely sick and played a game or games….i had teammates that played hurt, played sick, etc….and this was just to play in a conference game….probably not important to anyone but us.
JP was out what most considered a long time for a slight rib fracture……he finally makes it back and obviously is a huge difference with him in the lineup……they had a day off and now he is missing a second game because he is not feeling well?
There are 40 games left and we are 1/2 game up….call me old, call me an a$$hole, but I just don’t get it.
We used to live in a time when your best guy in the lineup played unless he was maimed. That was what being the best meant. Until you weren’t the best people relied on you to carry more than your load. Nowadays it’s more like finding reasons to be cautious. You think Lenny Dykstra would take a day off because he was under the weather? Ryne Sandberg? Even as self-proud as Ricky Henderson was he told Mike Lupica he stole eleven bases one year with a broken finger on each hand. Never-mind batting leadoff. This ain’t the 80’s. I had a buddy that worked at a men’s store at the Galleria. He said Vince Coleman and Willie McGee came in the day of a game. McGee couldn’t get a suit jacket on because of a sprained elbow. He went 2-4 that night and stole a base. F----------------!
Who would you consider the leader in the clubhouse who is going to tell people hey we’re in a playoff race and you need to be out there? I have zero sources but Altuve doesn’t seem like that guy and Correa will always be the guy who got hurt getting a massage.
