Careful there….we don’t want to turn Funk on. :grimacing:

In all seriousness, Burrows really does suck….bad trade.

Still in it, 12-11 in the 8th

Oops wrong topic.

I guess they plan on trading the “good” talent on the farm, if this is accurate and not just clickbait.

I knew after the 2nd inning that Espada should have taken him out.

No excuse to score 11 runs and lose the game.

No way that Crane lets him trade Neyens/Alvarez for Skubal( who is a rental).

Even if they made the trade TODAY they would be trading away our best two prospects for 13 starts.

I don’t doubt that Dana would do it….but I can’t see Crane signing off.

I would not trade those two or any of these listed.

Ochoa
Huezo
Pecko
Mayer

I wouldn’t want to trade them either but I don’t know how else they would get Skubal, who will be at the top of the list for many teams.

I hope Crane doesn’t let Dana do anything and then fires him after the season.

Eventually, Crane will have to consider trading Alvarez.

The Astros probably won’t be able to afford him unless it’s a 10-15 year deal, which would be competitive with the Soto deal with the Mets. Would Alvarez be likely to give Crane a sweetheart deal?

Even if Crane were able to sign him long term, how much money would be left to fill out the roster with quality players?

Look where the Mets are today with Soto? Last in the NL East, 15 games from 1st place.

Signing Alvarez is darn if you do, and darn if you don’t. We should enjoy him while we have him before he leaves for greener pa$ture$.

Soto was much younger than what Alvarez will be when he signs his next deal.

And this is why the Astros shouldn’t pursue him.

I would rather trade Hader to free up some money and extend Yordan in the offseason. Hader would bring a pretty good haul despite his contract.

I love Paredes, but I’d look at trading him if they can’t move Walker. If Pena is still with the Astros next season and nobody gets traded, they’ll have over $110MM committed to infielders.

I think your idea of trading Hader is spot on….you get some nice change off the books and it gives you an opportunity to see what Santa and Ullola can do in that role.( though I’m sure Joe will only use King and Abreu to close).

Walker does have value….the more we pay off his contract the better the prospect(s).

Paredes will fetch something nice in return as he will not be a rental….Zach would get his chance to prove his worth.

I don’t know who is taking his place in the rotation, but this needed to happen.

Why wait?

Hader is only valuable to the Astros if they make the playoffs. Even then, how far can they reasonably expect to advance?

If someone is expendable for prospects and reducing the payroll, it’s Hader.

Unfortunately, Abreu has proven to be a disappointment and our hope for a closer will rely on our young guns.

Watching the Nationals always makes me think of Seth Romero and his disappointing 2-2/3 MLB innings pitched. A shame.
