Joe treated this like a throw-away game to essentially give his pitching staff the night off. And the position players decided not to show up, either.

Thought the same thing, but it doesn’t account for the fact that the team couldn’t hit an average pitcher.
The team only has two, possibly three semi-reliable SP, and four RP you can count on.
The offense has to make up for the pitching deficiencies and when the offense struggles, it makes for bad baseball.

Geez, how do you pull Alverez for a pinch runner in a 0-0 game in the bottom of the eighth with one out. That’s twice now. Alvarez looked PISSED in the dugout. I hope the strategy works but I just don’t agree.
Well, astros scored two to take the lead, but to no thanks for the move. A walk and a hit batter move the pinch runner to third. Pretty sure Alverez could have done that by himself.

Agree. Thankfully, the Astros scored two runs to take the lead. Velasquez hasn’t produced much since joining the team, but his two hits with the Astros have generated two wins.
Again, Espada is a moron……btw, Yordan is faster than 2/3 of the team.
There is an opportunity for the Astros to expand their lead over the Rangers over the next several days.
With Hunter Brown on the mound today, the Astros should be favored over the CWS.
Then, the Astros open a series against Arizona, in which Houston has dominated over the past few years.
The Rangers open a four game series with the Rays, in which they are 1-5 over the past six games against Tampa Bay.
With some luck and good baseball, the Astros could substantially increase their lead in the days ahead.
Of course, as they typically say on Wall Street, past performance doesn’t necessarily guarantee future results.

Paredes is too good a player not to have called a TO. Perhaps he was a little too casual when uttering it or giving a hand gesture before stepping out of the box.
Thankfully, it didn’t impact the final score.
