Worst case, two starts.

The rule is you can have zero rosin on your non-throwing hand.
He had it all in his glove……it didn’t get there without it being on his left hand.
He messed up whether accidental or on purpose.
He has no leg to stand on….all he can do is move on.
Right, but if other pitchers have committed the same infraction and been treated differently, then he absolutely has a grievance. It’s not challenging whether the rule was broken, but rather why he got ejected and suspended when other guys were able to stay in the game by washing hands, changing gloves, etc.
I don’t know the facts in all the other cases, so they may not be the same.
I realize that they’ve decided not to appeal, as there’s apparently no question that the rule was broken. An MLBPA action could still proceed, but I doubt there’s much appetite to do anything that would help the Astros or a relative “nobody” in the league. Sucks that he seems to have been treated differently.
Here are the other suspensions.
He was definitely treated differently.
Okay, I understand what you are saying now.
Unfortunately, Manfred will shoot down anything the Astros challenge whether it’s fair or not.
That man has not a morsel of integrity.
Framber really cruising so far
This isn’t about him or the glove or the catcher or the fine or the suspension. It’s about the franchise. I don’t care about cheating. What bothers me is guy will miss two starts and the media proctologists will be out sifting through dirty laundry the rest of the season. Silly, selfish, little scandal.
And I think it’s silly for people to say he didn’t challenge it. The front office spoke to him for ten minutes and told him exactly what he was going to do. Lol’ing at the idea that pitchers decide when they’ll cheat and when they’ll appeal. It’s not their prerogative to do either.
Normally I’d agree with this take but our CEO came to our floor the other day to do some Q&A and he really showed his human side by sharing some personal challenges he went through (divorce, a special needs kid, and another kid he does t have a relationship with) while employed with the company. It really shocked me but I then saw him as someone just like me. An individual with flaws.
I’m not excusing what Blanco did, but you have to realize Espada is a new manager, Diaz is a new full time catcher, Blanco has a newborn while having the season of his life. Perhaps mistakes were made because of all the newness for these individuals in their respective positions. And the further and further we are removed from 2019, slip ups are going to happen.
I understand we have to be absolutely perfect for 30 years for it to finally be forgotten, but it’s just not going to happen. This is a setback in the eyes of the GP and media, but does it really matter? No
This bothers me just a little less than a rock in my shoe. I dump it out and move on. Doesn’t matter.
And I think you’re missing the point about an appeal or challenge. I’m saying the MLBPA (not the Astros, not Blanco) should take up the matter of what looks like disparate treatment of Blanco and consider a grievance. This is exactly the kind of thing the player’s union should go after. If the rule isn’t applied evenly, then it’s not really a rule.
Tonight was a blessing for the bullpen, and Framber was on his game.
Hopefully we see a better version of CJ tomorrow.
Blanco sweats a lot and for an indoor stadium MMP can be a sauna in the summer and it was hot yesterday. I see why he was using a ton of rosin and I had no idea it was against the rules to have it on your non pitching hand. I want to ask why is it on the mound for use if its illegal
It’s not illegal.
You pick it up with your throwing hand , palm it then pop in the air a smidge and resin the top of your hand a bit if needed……just to help dry out the hand….
Or you can pick up with non throwing hand and dap the bag on both sides of throwing hand, drop the bag and wipe off the non throwing hand on your pants….either way.
Professional ball players know exactly what they are doing.
It’s apples and oranges. Yamamoto wasn’t using a sticky substance. The Giants’ announcers said the umps determined there was too much white coloring on the glove which could be distracting to the batter.
Were you talking to me or just the group?
Did you get that from the clip mbtex posted? All the announcer said was “he had a lot of white on the glove and I think that might have been the problem.” No mention of sticky substance, what the umps determined, or that it was distracting to the batter.
It was the big white Nike logo on the glove that drew the first base ump’s attention. Despite what was said by the Giants’ announcers, I think he was able to continue to use the glove for the rest of his outing.
Bielak is gone!!!
Traded to A’s for box of lettuce!!!
Traded him for a bag of chips
They announced the rotation as LaCalameto, Jean and Solis.
