Loved Bushbaum! Had all the analytics before there were analytics
“Looks like Tarzan, Plays like Jane.”
He was one of a kind.
I listen to 790 as well because I can get it on iHeart here in San Antonio.
The Sean Salisbury show is good and Brian La Lima is a good sidekick……I could not listen to it when Michael Connor was on with Sean….Connor was horrible, even his voice was irritating.
10am I turn it off now……Norfleet is hard to listen to….the last straw for me was the game Case won in Tennessee….he spent the entire week telling everyone there was “No chance in He//“ Case played because he was horrible and. Old barely throw the ball….he bagged on the city of Houston and said we were all delusional.
Well we know that not only Did Case play but won that game….
This gutless turd ghosted everyone for TWO WEEKS! Took a “vacation “ , no twitter either……rather than facing the criticism and eating a truck full of crow he bailed.
When he did come back people called in and this guy doubled down……said Case was horrible and the only reason the Texans won that game was defense……
They need to get rid of him because his numbers have to suck.
12-3pm is Matt….i used to enjoy his show….but it’s gone downhill IMO……he calls Rockets games so he is absent from the show quite a bit……when he is on it’s usually broadcasting from his hotel room so we have to listen to him and “Ross”( Longhorn turd that didn’t actually graduate) talk about how fancy the hotel is.
Or they gossip like a couple of school girls about basically everything that is not sports.
3pm -6 I don’t listen because Wexler is so condescending to the other Adam….
I would try the other stations if they were available.
Charlie knew how to mix local stuff in - he could carry a show by himself - I like it
but the real issue lies with the program directors - they hide away making these dumb decisions when they could do so much to enhance the product - at least in the early 00s and late 90s they had David Dulati updates and you could get local scores on
I enjiy the national shows better now
Pretty much spot on. Although, I could normally tolerate Michael Connor but when he would start disparaging Astros fans for having certain opinions it got a bit hard to listen to.
Agree.
Thomas provides no expertise with anything and is pretty awful on dealing with the bad takes. Hard to listen to him for long. Wexler probably the most informed but his method of communication is such a turnoff.
I rarely listen to talk radio but a few days ago maybe 610 AM was talking down on Nantz and Romo. They were saying Nantz is burned out or something like that and Romo thinks he is funny but isn’t.
Akin to a no talent, community theater actor, saying Daniel Day Lewis is overrated.
I’ve heard Landry take shots at Nantz. Not sure if he does this because he went to UH. I don’t trust that guy. Lopez isn’t much better.
Soon as they take a call I turn the channel, 99% of callers suck. I’m sure their call sounded clever and funny when they rehearsed it for their dog.
Does anybody remember the 80’s/early 90’s sports lineup that KSEV had with Dan Patrick (Texas politician)? I have listened to sports radio in over 25 states. Dan’s line up IMO was the best I have ever heard.
What made it good?
He had John O’Reilly, Ed Fowler and Fran from the comical and other sports writers. They took calls. Never did any of the hosts seemed condescending. Never. What a treat that was.
I remember and it was a good lineup. Fowler became a preacher for the Episcopal Church in Colorado and Oklahoma and I believe he retired and now lives in Galveston.
Pure jealousy….
Joel was the best!!!
There wasn’t any player he didn’t know about.
There’s a reason Sterner has been on every show imaginable for short periods of time. He is horrible.
You can tell it pains them to talk about UH. They’d much rather talk about UT and A&M all the time.
time mark?
He was a savant.
In high school we had a kid that was similar….I know his name was “Bill” but can’t remember his last name….sat right in front of me in several classes throughout HS.
He never played one sport but man, he was so knowledgeable about pretty much every sport……and this was late 80’s, so pre-internet days.
He was doing NFL mock drafts, MLB All-Star predictions, was like a Lunardi Jr. and all he had to go by was watching games, as well as Newspapers and magazines.
No clue what he is doing now but I bet he is successful.
I DO remember Joel Bushbaum on the radio. Truly one of the most knowledgeable football minds ever!
