Houston vs Duke Possibility National Title

UH of course is my all time favorite, and Duke is my second favorite. This is a LOOOONG way away, but I would LOVE to see us play Duke. Now, from a financial perspective, if that were to happen, that would be Coach K’s last game ever. I would imagine the tickets for that game would be in the upper thousands. Would that prevent UH fans from being able to afford to go?

Let’s just win tomorrow first and then if we do that let’s win next Saturday and then we can talk about this

I would not be shocked, since all this cougar team does is play winners

Imagine how many fouls will be called on Duke’s upcoming opponents to insure Coach K’s winning !!!

Personally I will be only supporting OUR COACH K !!

I would obviously love to make the championship game, but I just dont believe the refs would allow coach K to lose if he makes it that far. Anyone but Duke, please.

I don’t want Duke or St Pete. Imagine all the negative energy focused on us.

Hard to imagine a path to the title that includes Illinois, Arizona, Villanova, Kansas and either Duke, UNC or Arkansas.

Talk about blue bloods.

We add a championship, or two, and we are knocking on the door of blue blood status ourselves. Our resume speaks for itself:

I think Arkansas is going to beat Duke today.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. i like that you posted this - we had one hell of a dead period but we have a great basketball and post-season heritage.

when i see houston in the group of names we see this weekend - it does not feel out of place at all. actually seeing houston (and even a lesser degree arky) sitting beside these other ‘bluebloods’ seems quite natural to me.

really too bad we could not have made a bit more noise with those early 1990s teams (that had really good players) or during the penders era (at least he made one tourny appearance).

Out of the 350 NCAA College Basketball programs, there are only NINE schools (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) that have more Final Four Appearances than the University of Houston.

Those 9 are:

North Carolina (20)
UCLA (18)
Kentucky (17)
Duke (16)
Kansas (15)
Michigan State (10)
Ohio State (10)
Indiana (8)
Louisville (8)

…and then Houston (6) is tied with Arkansas, Cincinnati, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Syracuse

The monument of post-season accomplishments is only missing the star at the top.

This year or next year, the star will be achieved. Hopefully this year.

A special team deserves a special place in history. We’ve earned six FF and two Final Two.

Time for a Championship.

Counting the vacated appearances…

Houston-Villanova winner takes sole possession of 11th place. Or shares it with Arkansas if they beat Duke.
